This is great, Clive. Thanks. However, for this to work it needs to be democratically elected and the club should be publishing this on the official website, with a part of the website dedicated to holding these minutes, names and details of those on the Supporters’ Advisory Board, and information around the process for feeding back, elections, etc. If the club cared about this and truly wanted advice from representatives of supporters, they’d be doing all the above already, regardless of EFL diktats. The fact they aren’t tells me this is lip service, and more for Nourry and the club to evidence they are engaging fans. |

Perhaps, Steve. However, comments I have heard directly from people who have met Nourry would suggest such principled honour and professionalism is not his standard operating procedure. He is also far less qualified for DOF responsibilities than Ferdinand ever was. LF had done his badges, and worked within football for 25 years as a player and coach. I repeat, Nourry was a 26yr old recruitment consultant who worked on non-playing staff recruitment in football, and somehow having been asked to do a review of that side of QPR, turned it into a complete 360 review of everything and was then invited to be CEO (I suspect because Hoos wanted out and this was his ticket). Yes, he went to St Paul’s and Oxford so he must be academically smarter (far more so than Ferdinand) but there are thousands of well educated people about; it doesn’t make them qualified to have DOF responsibilities. That aside this is just a box ticking exercise for the EFL. If this was a serious piece of comms with a genuine intent to engage the fans they’d communicate who is on the Supporters’ Advisory Board, how there were elected, how elections in future would work, and how fans can raised issues with them, etc, and not simply ask interested fans to contact the club. That is not the most transparent approach. As ever look for what these verbose corporate documents don’t say, like that the Manager won’t be attending Fans Forums anymore. |

That was his best performance of the season. But he has 4 goals and has been pretty good all season. He knows what he is doing up top, even if he’s slow. Unfortunately out with an unspecified calf injury, I believe, and our club tell us nothing so we don’t know for how long. In his place with have a newbie who is as comfortable playing the one up top role, as Liz Truss at an economics forum. Lacking confidence, weak, and not particularly quick, if you could let him score a goal that would be most appreciated. The rest of the team is getting there now we’ve dropped our big money signing from central midfield, given he didn’t tackle, track back, or run much. You’ll likely have too much for us. I expect an improved Rangers’ performance but a 1-2 loss. |

I’d like them to hire Thomas Frank. He has a dislikable face, so would suit Utd and my enjoyment of them losing, and it could be the start of the decline for Brentford, which would be mildly comforting. |
| Forum Reply | 2 keepers on bench today at 12:01 28 Oct 2024
Two things. 1) Why did Shepherd travel in the first place? At best, in case Walsh or Nardi got injured in the warm up. Neither did. So why was he included on the bench with zero chance of playing? We don’t need to fill the bench and occasionally don’t. 2) Two outfield players were 100% fit on Friday (no cover needed to travel at all, in case one didn’t feel right on the day…). But then on the day further tests were done and neither were fit enough to even be named on the bench. Why were they doing further Tests? Because they weren’t 100% fit to play. They don’t do Tests on every player on the match day. They knew they were doubts. Doesn’t say much for the Physios and club doctor that their diagnosis was so wrong 24 hrs earlier if they thought they were 100% likely to play. Ultimately, there was no need for a 2nd keeper to be named on the bench. And there was an obvious, common sense need to take a spare outfield player from the EDS just in case one of those two didn’t pass the matchday tests planned. We didn’t do the latter and we did do the former. GroveR is right, it’s a message, whatever post match statement was read out. |

You need players like that in a side. A combination of some hairy bollocks and some ballers. We have lots of soft, naive ballers, and not enough hairy bollocks. Neither is more valuable than the other in football. You need a balance. |

Quite. Build from a solid defence and expand from there. I just wish we’d started the season like that. We’d be on twice as many points. We tried to run before walking with all the new players with no experience in English football and in trying a new system/style. |

I think a lot of people know already, don’t they? Kolli’s contract is up at the end of this season. Nourry said he wouldn’t play if he didn’t sign a new one. He won’t. So Nourry has made him unavailable. We have a stand off where everyone loses, in the short term, at least. Potentially, this sends a message to future young talent that we need you under an extended contract if you want game time. Potentially no one else gives a fcuk and we’re cutting our nose off to spite our face. |

Lloyd isn’t a centre forward really. And we sold Dykes. Post transfer window we have gone into the season with only 2 genuine centre forwards. It is a spectacular recruitment fcuk up to make the same mistake as last season. |

I personally think Frey is a significant upgrade on Dykes. His anticipation and finishing and composure is all streets ahead. His all round game is stronger, IMO. But you loved Dykes. |

That’s fair on Field’s passing. But you have to acknowledge the other side of the game. It was him, and pretty much him alone putting the boot in and making tackles and interceptions, winning loose balls in that second half. We need more of that. Less ballers, more boll*cks. He also stood up to their 14 when they started mouthing off about us not kicking it out, and it was him who shouted at Nardi to sit down to stop the game and given the side a breather. This sort of stuff is important in a side so weak, soft, and naive. |
| Forum Reply | Celar - Nothing Again at 23:54 22 Oct 2024
He offered absolutely nothing tonight. Not one ball up to him stuck. Frey is miles better. Most stuck with him on Saturday and he’s a physical bastard. Celar looks like he wants to avoid physical contact. Even his charging down of the keeper looked like he wanted to get out of the way of the ball. He has no strength. He’s not quick. His touch isn’t much good. And he has Dykes/Washington levels of anticipation in the box. He had to get on the end of that second Smyth ball across the face. I’m sure he’s low on confidence, and I know it’s a new league and takes time to settle. But he is not showing anything currently: ability or desire. From what we have seen to date, I think Kelman might be better than him. I don’t think his level is any higher. |

He had a good second half, certainly. Like most of the side, he was poor first half. He and Varane certainly looks better than him and Madsen. Varane grew into it too. There is something to work with there. He doesn’t like carrying it with his feet though. Saito was my MoTM. He was the only one offering a threat in the first half, beating his man and setting up a couple of chances. He looked good. He also seems to have worked out how to compete physically as a tiny man now. He was filling in as a LWB too, and did his defensive job admirably. Chair was poor and isn’t fit. Dembele was poor and never got in the game although the ref gave him no protection. Celar was awful. Bloke offered nothing at all. Any striker worth their salt gets on the end of that second ball across the face from Smyth. He was on his heels. His hold up game was non-existent, and was out muscled all night. The kindest thing I can say is “he cannot play as a lone striker, perhaps he can in a two”. Just a shame we don’t play with 2 forwards. Great scouting and signing, lads. I thought Cook and JCS were okay, a bit shaky at times, both of them. Some moments of indecision from each, but better than Dunne there. Smyth was actually okay. He is frustrating but I think we attack better when he plays because he does pin the oppo full back deep and creates a bit more space for others to play. It was his departure that brought our attacks to a halt, not Dembele or Chair. And he got the assist. I like Morgan too, simply because the lad runs around a lot and has a little bit of bite. Until Colback is fit, Field, Varane, and Morgan should start on central midfield. Get Frey back up top asap and pray he stays fit until Jan. We will need a reinforcement there come then. |

Not how I saw it, or those around me. Chair was very poor. He overplayed and shot too often rather than pass. I don’t think he’s remotely match fit. He was blowing in the first half and twice hid behind a player as he didn’t want it because he was blowing. They are trying to build his fitness. Also, Field was excellent in that second half. When we needed to get something from somewhere he stood up and made a lot of tackles, and blocks. “Abject” is ridiculous, Dav. The biggest problem tonight was Celar. He offered absolutely nothing all game. Everyone did some good and some bad stuff. He did nothing right all game. |
| Forum Reply | Is this on Nourry? at 18:21 22 Oct 2024
Quite. He’s been with the club around a decade and had been in the industry for a decade before. He’s probably one of the few in the club who do have the experience required to do his job. That doesn’t mean he has done a good one. As many have said, it is very hard to tell. Nevetherless, at some point there does need to be accountability. Whether it’s you 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 10th choice recommendation, you need to have some hits. He certainly needs some more hits versus the misses he’s had. |

I’ve met Andy Belk. Went to Uni with his brother. Met him for a beer in his first year or two at the club a while back. He’s a seems a decent bloke. And he has been kept on by a variety of different leaders at the club. As Dave says though, he has had a few stabs at this now, and, over the last decade or so, since he has been here (and Penrice was bumped out), the success of signings we have paid money for has been incredibly slim. I don’t think we have paid money for someone who we then sold for more money. That is not a good return. We have spent very good money on Madsen, Celar, Varane, and Dembele this summer. There needs to be 1-2 big hits there. There have been a lot of misses in the past. At some point you have to be accountable, even if these are your 2nd and 3rd choices because we can’t afford your primary recommendation. They’re still near the top of your list. From everything I have heard from those closer to the club than me, this summer has been Nourry and Belk leading the signings. There has to be accountability there. Madsen and Celar, at present, look like very worrying investments. This summer was our once every 3 years chance to spend a bit and have a go… |
