Watford Bournemouth Norwich ---- To the OP Question: The whole self-interest footballer / PFA salary sacrifice farce left a bitter taste in the mouth and I expected to lose interest... However I'm finding myself enjoying the return of football.... #shallow |

That's where the groundsman put him to help mark out the centre circle... |

Me. I never realised before now how much I used the player shirt names to identify the players. Between that and the piped crowd noise drowning out the commentators, I'm thoroughly confused [Post edited 23 Jun 2020 13:05]

We had a succession of good managers over a period of many years who all contributed to what was being built and ultimately the success we enjoyed... Flynn Jacket Martinez Sousa Rodgers Laudrup They all added something positive to the journey - Laudrup arguably harnessed that and achieved something remarkable during those 18 months. Compare that group to what happened afterwards... Monk Guidolin Bradley Clement Carvahal Squandered potential as the owners shifted their priorities from what made us great to their own self interest. Thankfully stopped the rot with Potter and now Cooper. Back to basics. |

So - the americans and their friends spent £68M to buy the club so that they could give jobs to Pearlman/Birch etc. So assuming that's £1M a year in salaries they take out - at 50% tax, that would take 136 years of salaries to recoup what they spent (and that's assuming Birch/Pearlman etc pass on their salaries back to owners...) Seems a pretty inefficient and ineffective way to recoup their spend. Any spend that's of a level that would even look at recovering their £68M would stand out like a sore thumb in the numbers. The devils in the detail. If the offer was conditional and the formal reason for withdrawing the offer was (validly) against one of the conditions, then he’s stuffed. If the offer was unconditional then he can sue for breach of contract. Get advice from the CAB Most contracts have probationary periods baked in that have more limited notice periods. He should check the details around this in his contract as that’s likely to be the extent of any outcome. |

What else is he going to spend it on? There's only so many fake glasses/tash combos and nipple-high trousers one can buy before one really finds a money sinkhole to squander it all on [Post edited 12 Nov 2019 18:46]

https://www.coachesvoice.com/john-toshack-liverpool-swansea-city/ "In 1974 I had a medical to sign for Leicester City and because of a muscle injury I failed it. As a 25-year-old with a family to look after, hearing a specialist say that I might only have a year left of my playing career was a big blow. I went back to Liverpool, but it was a difficult time for me there. Bob Paisley had taken over from Shanks and I had the feeling that he wasn’t 100 per cent with me. Fortunately, I still had 18 months left on my contract, so I made it work. I did more specialised training; went down to the swimming pool a few times a week; focused on shorter, sharper sessions. That way, I was able to turn things around and play on for some considerable time. But that period got me thinking about the game a lot more. I started to appreciate things that maybe some other players took for granted. I started to think about management. My time at Liverpool came to an end when they agreed to sell me to Anderlecht for £80,000. I went over there, did the medical and, just like Leicester had done, they turned down the deal. Liverpool were going to struggle to get any money for me if I couldn’t pass a medical. So I asked if they’d let me go for free. That way I could go down to the lower divisions and see if I could get a role as a player-coach somewhere. Cardiff was my first thought, but they didn’t fancy the idea. I think the Cardiff manager Jimmy Andrews was a bit too concerned for his own future. In the end it was a chance meeting with the Swansea chairman at a sports trade fair that led to me being offered the player-manager role there. It was a chance to get back home to south Wales, and to learn my trade as a coach." |

Birmingham's CEO: "'Garry has lost his focus on football. Every time he gets fired he became richer. I don't know if he still has the desire to be passionate about football rather than controlling things, all these transfers.'" |

Will put money on him giving it a go this time. May even go so far as seeing us land the final brick when we play them in April. |

He’s been solid - and is a big part of why we’re defensively stronger this season. I think some struggle as he’s not the typical “winger” full backs we’ve been used to in recent times |
