| Forum Thread | Richmond Kickers Friendly Observations at 18:09 18 Jul 2016
Apologies for the delay in posting my observations from Saturday evening's friendly in Richmond, VA. In summary ... 1. First half was quite disjointed particularly on the right hand side of the formation. Barrow and Naughton did not link up at all well. 2. As a result of the above Andre Ayew tended to drift in from the more central strikers role to try to help out. 3. We played quite a few of the U21's first half and it was good to see them get some game time. 4. Fernandez and Van De Hoorne need to work on their communication skills - Fede kept giving the ball away too often. 5. Fulton and Fer played in midfield but there was some confusion over who was playing the defensive midfield and central midfield role between the two of them. 6. Second half much better. Leon and Cork were impressive together in midfield. 7. When Dyer came on at half time his work rate on the right wing was outstanding and he put the opposition under a lot of pressure. 8. Angel was strong at the back second half and linked up very well with Dyer. 8. McBurnie looked good again, always a willing outlet and was unlucky not to score on a handful of occasions. 9. Kingsley had a quiet game (I felt he was not at the races for both games). 10. We had quite a number of shots cleared off the line and some miss hits, it seems more obvious that we need an experienced striker that can put chances away. 11. Richmond Kickers were a much better team than Charlotte and theirs two wingers caused us a lot of problems with both of their goals scored on counter attacks. Both games proved a decent work out for the Swans, with Francesco being given time to try out different formations and give the U21's some good game time. Huge thanks to the club, management and team for being very accommodating to the US based fans and staying behind after games to chat with supporters, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Onto the home based friendlies and hopefully some signings ... STID |
| Forum Thread | Charlotte Independence Game observations at 23:41 14 Jul 2016
I was at last nights friendly in Charlotte, NC. In summary here are my observations ... 1. Dyer was lively and a handful during the first half. It would seem he's returned from LEicester and feels he has a point to prove. 2. Routledge was outstanding last night - quick and strong and was always looking for through balls to be played into his feet. 3. Van Fer Hoorn looked strong in the air and was great at the limited set pieces he had to defend. 4. Oliver MCBurnie - Wow. For his age this lad is class. Didn't stop running and looked for openings all night. 5. Barrow was so quick he made both goals for Routledge. 6. Cork and Leon put in decent shifts and kept the ball rolling. 7. Gorre and Kingsley did well but need more game time. 8. It was way too hot (almost 100 degrees) Guidolin was heard to shout "Mamma Mia" several times. |
| Forum Thread | Some Smoke but No Fire at 17:41 10 Apr 2016
After reading targeted posts on Jason Levien yesterday and the subsequent concern it has caused I took some time to find out what was going on at DC United. It would seem that DC United Supporters group are disgruntled due to a fan being banned for one year for setting off a smoke device at their stadium, stating that the previous front office club staff would not have been "fan unfriendly" ... http://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/features/dc-united-fans-club-tension-fan-banned-ye While I understand concern over the possible shareholder buy out and the need for all key stakeholders involved to proceed cautiously (the goal should be that the deal suits the club) - I believe this has been blown out of all proportion by certain individuals. We all recognize that for the club to grow and thrive in the EPL legitimate and appropriate investment is essential. I would urge that we not lose sight of this fact and show that we have shaken off the "graveyard of ambition" tag. |
| Forum Thread | Frank DeBoer - Ajax at 18:36 20 Mar 2016
Would love to see a Frank DeBoer approach from the board this summer. He just took Ajax to the top of the Eredivisie beating PSV 2-0. His goals for 68 against 18 record would be just what we need. He would sort out our defence and start us playing attractive football. Thoughts? |
| Forum Thread | Omelette Challenge at 07:01 19 Dec 2015
When you consider the current circumstances the club find themselves in, what infantile, puerile nonsense to feature on Swans TV. A Cook versus a player in a contest to see who can make the best Omelette - Seriously ?? What is this a football club or a cooking club ?? Lets go all out and bring back the Pink Ferrari Challenge !! |

Would love to see Huw give him his big chance in the Premier League |
| Forum Thread | How much longer at 21:19 21 Nov 2015
Would you give Garry to turn things around ? Thirteen games played, one win in ten games. With a side severely lacking confidence and unable to win matches. Our future in the EPL and next seasons extra income among many other things to consider? |
| Forum Thread | Poor Counter Tactics and Subs All Wrong at 18:40 4 Oct 2014
I am starting to get fed up of Monk's inability to work out a team's counter tactics. It happened against Chelsea, Southampton and now Newcastle. He needs to look at how to adapt our set up and tactics when the opposition changes theirs that affect the game. How on earth he persisted with Dyer all game when clearly he was not getting any change out of their full back is beyond me !!! Montero should have been brought on a lot earlier - whats the point in bringing him on with 6 minutes to go. Also Ash was poor today his positioning for both goals was awful - for the second he was more interested in telling Taylor to cover the wingers run. Mr Monk you need to start learning how to adapt our play during games otherwise 2-3 points will slip out of our grasp each week !!! |
| Forum Thread | Pozuelo and Canas at 22:44 16 Jul 2014
As we see images of Amat and Chico progressing through pre-season training I begin to wonder what Messers Pozuelo and Canas have done so bad for them to be encouraged to find new clubs? |
