| News Comment | A Season Changing Moment For Saints ! at 18:41:36
Right on saintmark. All we have done is to beat Fulham, Watford and West Brom. Not really much to cheer about. We have been swinging from side to side for the last few weeks. What if we lose to Burnley, will it all be doom and gloom again? What if we lose to Stoke as well and then Newcastle. What will we make of the tie against Wigan then? We really need nine points from those three games but I can't see us getting more than four. |
| News Comment | Gazzaniga Will Keep Place For The Aston Villa Game at 23:02:53
What a load of old twaddle. If Gazzaniga plays we're dead. No more to be said but no-one wants all the extra games that entry to the EUROPA League will bring for the clubs finishing 6th and 7th. Shrewd move by Koeman. |
| News Comment | Player Abuse Has To Stop at 11:09:36
For weeks the reason suggested here for Pelle's lack of goals is that he is not playing as far forward as he did at the start of the season. If so isn't the answer to simply put him back to where he was? |
| News Comment | Pelle Not Scoring But Still In Form at 13:04:55
I can see that he is playing a different role. The problem is that sometimes he will take down a promising ball and back-heel or flick it to one side and there's no-one there. Either he isn't looking or others in the team aren't following up as they do in training. This sort of thing looks fabulous if it results in a goal or ludicrous if all it amounts to is giving the ball to the opposition. |
| News Comment | Saints V West Bromwich Albion The Verdict at 15:08:41
"... when Pelle had the ball laid into him he mainly did his job and laid it off ..." Trouble was he laid it off to whoever was standing next to him, regardless of what colour shirt they were wearing. And if there was no-one near he stood and watched while the nearest West Brom player took the ball. While some of the balls aimed at him were too high he didn't seem to be able to win much in the air, despite his height. What are the crowd likely to do, cheer every ball he loses?. One own goal scored in the last three matches he has played means he does not live up to his billing as a goalscorer. He wouldn't be the first expensive import who did well in one of the European leagues who took time to adapt to the Premier League. Then again he wouldn't be the first to flop either. |
| News Comment | How Should Saints Supporters Greet Our Ex Players On Sunday ? at 21:18:15
And how should we treat JRod, Spiderman and Poch? To suggest that everything that has happened is down to the players mentioned above misses the mark. When management communicate by letter/email and don't bother to talk to their employees let alone consult them it's no wonder morale collapses. Classic mushroom management - keep them in the dark and throw manure on them from time to time. |
| News Comment | Ralph Krueger A Statement Of Two Halves at 17:05:47
Statement of two forked tongues might be a better title for this piece. Ever the optimist Nick apparently cannot see the deep breakdown in morale and commitment that has developed. Whatever else anyone says Schneiderlin's reaction demonstrates an appalling lack of communication from Kruger and Les Reed. Did anyone talk to Morgan before Kruger made his statement? I think many of us will be entirely sympathetic to his tweet. Rodriguez can be expected to follow suite. With Fonte desperate to go to Cardiff (more money), Corke to Swansea (only one year of contract left) and Clyne wobbling there is much more behind the last few weeks than players leaving because they want to play in Europe. |
| News Comment | Would The Sale Of Chambers Be A Step Too Far ! at 00:08:44
With Corke and Fonte wanting away as well things are certainly looking bleak. Come the start of the season compare the money spent on new players against that raised from sales and you will see what the business plan is. |
| News Comment | Is This Summer As Bad As The Summer Of 1992 ? I Would Say Not ! at 22:09:24
The fact that so many players want to leave indicates that there is something seriously wrong. You don't need to be a genius to see that. Then there's all the disgruntled players who want to leave but can't. With only a few weeks of the transfer window open are we really going to be able to sign enough good players to replace those who have left? |
| News Comment | It's Not Doom And Gloom According To The Bookies at 23:36:43
Interesting that the bookies put Liverpool at 10/1, out from 5/1 at the end of last season. As Nick says they rarely catch a cold. There is a fair chance that Liverpool will emulate Spurs from last season. Burnley at 4/7 are rock solid for relegation. An interesting punt would be on Lambert to miss his next penalty kick, especially if it's against us on the opening weekend. If Hooiveld is back in favour and lines up for us with Rickie on the field for them this will be an unmissable bet. |
| News Comment | Koeman Open To Saints Approach at 13:03:24
Can you tell Les that we want David Moyes? He's a much better fit. I reckon he can knock Osvaldo into shape too. |
| News Comment | Mauricio Pochettino An Appraisal at 12:34:54
Very fair comments. Likelihood is that Poch will be on his way back to Spain before Easter. The Spurs board are an impatient bunch. I too think David Moyes would be an excellent acquisition. |
| News Comment | Saints V Cardiff The Verdict at 16:02:31
Agree with davepid. Poch is a one-trick Pony. Best to let him go to Spurs where he will be another AVB. If we lose eighth place his days will be numbered and if we end on a low this season we will start the same way next season. Adkins would have done at least as well given the resources available. |
| News Comment | Back To The League Now at 18:15:06
Remember that we play Man U in the last game of the season. If it's between us and them to get the last Europa cup place we may get a chance to look at more of our Under 18 quad. |
| News Comment | Saints At Sunderland The Verdict at 20:12:47
Poch knows what he is doing. Far better to concentrate on consolidating our place in the League. It may be unfortunate but the FA Cup doesn't have the same status that it used to. The fact that the stadium was half empty shows that - probably made it seem more like a kickabout than a serious match. Even if we had gone right through to the end the Europa Cup would have been a poison chalice. Hats off to the supporters who travelled all that way and outsung the Mackem by a mile. |
| News Comment | Pochettino Commits To Saints at 18:13:00
Looks like Rickie will be off soon though, but that would probably have happened anyway. At least he won't be "leading a player exodus." |
| News Comment | Cortese Has Gone at 00:05:31
If all this has been on the cards for months the identity of the new chief exec should be announced pretty quickly. Katherina needs to show her authority straight away. Nick is spot on about corporate governance. Cortese was a dictator, albeit a benevolent one for some of the time. He's got his come-upance. Give it another couple of weeks and we'll all be singing 'Walking in a winter wonderland, there's only one Katherina Liebherr, one Katherina Liebherr etc....' |
