I thought we started off quite well yesterday & everything seemed to be in Saints favour in first half. Where the game changed was in the tactical subs by Wolves at start of second half. You could see the lack of confidence & when we did make subs it was too late. On a positive note Sulemana played well with look attacking runs. Not so sure about Onuachu, looked fairly slow & I cant remember him getting on the end of anything. Its a tall task for new manager to avoid the drop but there are still games Ito play. Its the negative atmosphere that dosent help, it goes very quiet when we are losing which cant help the players. The recruitment in the summer is I think one of the main reasons for where we are now. |

Only the 2nd time I have been to Villa Park - first time over 40 + years ago. Really impressive ground, reminded me of Peaky Blinders, once in the ground much more modern & good views & atmosphere. I was lucky enough to be invited as guest & looked after by some ex Villa players who had some great memories of playing at the Dell & the time Chris Nichol thumped Mark Dennis! As for the football - well the less said about that the better! |

We don't really seemed to have improved over the last 3 years. Yes we have had some great results but also more than our fair share of poor games. It was only a matter of time before Palace scored, I can't really remember us having a shot on target in the second half. We were abysmal in too many games recently, The Arsenal victory was very lucky, & performances against Burnley & first half against Brigton were shocking. Something is wrong in the way Ralph is picking the team & the way they are playing. You can argue he hasn't had the greatest support in the transfer market although he has said he was happy with his squad. Perhaps his back up team are falling short, certainly some of the players are out of form. Will the new owners continue to be happy with present form? |

I thoroughly enjoyed the game having feared the worst. I thought all the players had a good game - Walcott covered well & still has his pace. Good substitution at half time as this has going to be the pressure period although United did score we more than help our own. I cant understander some of these managers complaining about too physical tackles, do they just want us to stand and off & admire their skills, I think not! In the next few games perhaps we can be more optimistic. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Leicester City Fa Cup Semi Final Verdict at 10:52:36
I'm glad you enjoyed your day Nick. From where i sat in my comfy armchair Saints missed a great opportunity - they were outclassed & out thought. in my view its time for a complete change if we are ever going to progress. Yes I know we have little money & cant buy £30m players but the players don't seem to be able to step up when it matters. The academy players are not good enough for 1st team - i have followed Saints for nearly 60 years & it hurts when they put in these tyre of performances. I've seen plenty of highs & lows over the years & just when you think this is the moment they implode & go back to bad habits. To me they played like the main object was not to get another hammering. I still think they could get relegated this season if they don't get another 3 points. I cant see where that win will come on present form. |
