| Forum Reply | Is Madsen the man to solve QPR's long term CM issue? Signing at 11:23 24 Aug 2024
I posted the other day on the Hayden thread saying how it's an absolute yes from me but that was under the pretence this guy was a pipedream and the hope Amit and Jamie's friendship would allow us to get Hayden back ok similar friendly terms to last season. If the club is going to move forward it has to take risks on young players (I think I'm right saying Madsen is the same age as EDB?), developing them and moving them on for a profit. Whatever happens this season full credit to all of the management team at QPR. They've found a manager who inspires confidence and wants to play in the 'QPR way' and have somehow found a way to back him within the constraints of our budget and long-term security. I can't believe how optimistic I'm feeling as I head off to sit in the paddocks for 2 hours with the heavens opening above me.... #YouRssss |

Personally, I would take him back in an instant. I have been saying all summer I think he is the single biggest loss from last year’s team. I also think long term he could do a role as a CB and eventually replace Cook there. He has great size and can play a ball which Marti seems to want in his defenders. He also comes across as a good pro and natural leader – the importance of which cannot be underestimated as we try to build a younger squad. I can’t see the offer in the OP being too attractive to him. He’s 29 and an established name in the league. If he’s available on a free he will have far better options available to him than to hand over all long term security to the club on what is essentially a ‘prove it’ deal. As long as he’s with Newcastle though I think we have a great chance of picking him up. Once he’s paid off and free to go to the highest bidder – I assume there would be many suiters for him – I’m afraid we would likely be blown out of the water on wages. Hopefully Reuben is willing to do Amit another favour with a loan deal or structure his pay off in such a way that it supplements our offer to him. He was happy here last season and that can’t be overlooked. He has never really had the opportunity to play regular first team football. At 29 he’s got little over 200 appearances to his name which for a player of his quality amazes me. If he is bought into Marti’s vision, wants to remain close to his family and know for the next 2/3 years he’ll be playing week in / week out hopefully we can work something out that benefits all parties. |
| Forum Reply | Willock to Boro latest Twitter rumour at 12:15 14 Aug 2023
Sadly (given the player we thought we had on our hands just 12 months ago) this feels like the best we can hope for. £2 million in our current position can’t be sniffed at - particularly given the way other players have exited the club in recent years (BOS, Manning, Robinson etc).... He clearly isn’t in the manager's plans though so the sooner this is resolved the better. Crooks would be fantastic but at 29 (turning 30) we would be getting him as he leaves his prime and it's impossible not to question how he will fit within the wage structure here. Again, everything Northen has said about next year's FFP headroom probably applies equally here. Not that Crooks wouldn’t still be effective in the league next season but the need to operate within our means and keep to a budget. |

Most of the T20 and County games are already free to air via YouTube. Clubs typically stream them with their own commentary teams, replays etc. I'm not sure on the specifics - by that I mean I'm certain there are blackouts for Sky selected games but I wouldn't want to assume the specifics and mislead anyone. Either way, in this day and age a free to view stream via YouTube is in my opinion essentially the same as traditional FTA content and tremendous for fans who can't make it to every game as life inevitably gets in the way etc |

Personally I think we should set up in a 4-4-1-1 to fill the midfield as much as possible. GK: Begovic RB: Adomah CB: Kakay CB: Field LB: Paal RM: Willock CM: Dixon-Bonner CM: Dozzell LM: Chair CAM: Richards CF: Dykes I would look to try and rotate Willock, Chair and Richards throughout the game to pull some players out of position and give Dykes as much support as possible but the theme of the day has to be crosses - early and often. If we need to the chase the game I would take one of those three off for Armstrong and go two up. As I suspect 'chasing the game' is actually putting the drubbing we're likely to encounter mildly I suspect Kelman will also make it off the bench with the instructions to run all day like he's Forest Gump. Also worth mentioning if Fox is available for the game I would swap him for Field and EDB would drop to the bench. I'm even less enthusiastic for the game after putting this down on paper - it's going to be a long slog of a season isn't it... |
| Forum Reply | Tony Fernandes leaves the club at 12:36 10 Jul 2023
Personally, regardless of any errors Tony may have made in his time here one thing that couldn’t be questioned was his commitment to the club and the community. Today’s news potentially (probably?) places an even greater burden on Ruben to continue funding the club at a time when the financial position is already dire. Given their friendship and being partners in business it always gave me a sense of confidence their financial support of the club would continue. An ‘in it together’ type of thing. Whilst I’m sure Ruben would have known about this for some time and by not exiting together he has, for the time at least, committed to continue playing a role at QPR. My concern would be today’s developments potentially making him more likely to question this than he previously would have done if the season unfolds the way so many of us are predicting. As many have eluded to previously, without the outside support Tune offer the club would be out of the frying pan and into the fire financially. |

I was thinking this as well! I assume we’re now officially the Football Index world champions until we play them again. The trophy is sitting proudly alongside the dryworld cup in our trophy cabinet. |
| Forum Reply | Kakay at 18:05 12 Sep 2020
It can be difficult to see the wider picture on a stream compared to being there live but for me he was clearly inside too often and had to chase back out wide countless times when they were breaking. I appreciate your comments regarding a back 4 and needing at times to come narrower but what I noticed was Kakay being too central even if it was only for my liking at least. I’ll happily watch the extended highlights Hunter when they’re released and take another look at it, and as you say he may have been covering for BOS or others each time but this isn’t something I have only noticed today. I thought it apparent in the final games last season - again that i only saw via a stream. Either way I still think he had a good game and is doing enough to keep Kane out of the team if nothing else. |
| Forum Reply | Kakay at 17:22 12 Sep 2020
A great team performance today no doubt and Kakay certainly had a good game and contributed to that. For me he gets dragged inside too often which leaves real holes out wide for the opposition. That being said he’s very young, still learning and certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully he can work on his positioning and have the confidence to trust his delivery into the box earlier / first time but if he keeps this up we wont be seeing much of Todd Kane this season.... |

Couldn't agree more, Jeff. Sounds like a great signing on the face of it and hopefully the style of football MW wants to play will help bring out the best in him. I have to say as a Ranger it's so refreshing to see signings bought in who compliment each other and fit the style of the team two years running. Fantastic progress alone that!! |
| Forum Reply | Season Ticket renewals. at 13:23 4 Sep 2020
It's certainly helped clarify a lot but for me there remains a couple of big questions unanswered.. 1) If we cancel our STs as we don't want or need a stream can we pick them up again (pro-rata) when fans are allowed to go back to the stadium - whether that will be via a ballot or full capacity? 2) If we cancel our STs but save our seats will fans get access to the early renewal window and reduced prices next year? Obviously we want to support the club through thick and thin and I know a lot of us donated our refund last year to the club but this is different. We're talking about a full football season and people who have multiple STs in the same household will not require multiple streams. A few days until their next announcement wont hurt - just hope they cover off all these points there or possibly hold a virtual forum on the subject perhaps? |

Amazing the progress that club has made. I think they’ll regret letting him go but 6 months out of a champions league final, new stadium and an England captain and they fire one of the best managers in the world at the first sign of slipping standards. Levy isn’t scared of the big decisions is he. |

Because Corbyn has never uttered “for the many...” Hard to believe in either of them after that. The Lib Dem’s came out best IMO by not saying a word!! [Post edited 19 Nov 2019 21:38]

I can't stress how impressed I was with him yesterday, or since we signed him really. I'll admit when we first signed him I rolled my eyes based on his age alone and the short term contract but boy has he proved me wrong! Something I don't think gets the 'praise' it deserves is his ability on the ball. He's probably one of our more talented passers of the ball and his ability to not only put a good cross in from deep (eradicates some of the downside from his age / pace on the overlap) but he also switches the play regularly which really helps us. |
| Forum Reply | No poppies on the match shirts today? at 21:27 10 Nov 2018
They had poppies on their shirts in the first half but not in the second. I assumed they changed to dryer tops at HT but didn't have the poppies on the spare tops. |
| Forum Reply | Labour & Safe Standing at 08:52 8 Jun 2018
I hope not. As a ST holder in the paddocks if this was introduced I know our group would likely not renew. We have a great view in the paddocks but we don't want to stand. Unfortunately if this is introduced and others do then the view for those sitting behind would take the term 'restricted view' to whole new levels even for Loftus Road... |

With the new season fast approaching which ex player do you think has made the best or worst move in the off season? Personally I think Clint securing another year and getting to play for the second best rangers there is has to nick it for me.... |

IMO Perch is a left back, he played there for Wigan and was their player of the season, when played there for us he's drastically improved. We need a right back to finish the back four but after the last few signings I have total faith in JFH and Les, think that means Perch becomes Mr versatile off the bench though....
