Thanks Clive, I have no idea how you maintain the motivation, enthusiasm and humour to crank these out, but they do at least bring some sanity and a few laughs to us long-suffering fools who dream of a blue and white win. Like you I see no win coming soon, the only spark for me being in our new striker we at least have someone who knows where the goal is, how this league works and has the guile for these games. If we can just get him past the Pukka Pies stand…. |

Having read various posts, some pragmatic and many hyperbolic on the successes and failures of our recruitment on LFW this week, it is brilliant to read your thoughtful and incisive view of this, which I am sure (and I know nothing about football too) is bang on. This should be required reading for anyone starting a "sign a f*cking striker/ defender/ midfielder" thread. |

Thanks Clive, it must be harder and harder for you to write these, and clearly you have more commitment that most of our team did yesterday. But for those of us that froze our ars@'s off yesterday, it helps to have some perspective brought back. For me this can still be a successful season (I know, define success), we have enough decent players to be competitive in this league and with good leadership could recapture the form pre the Wolves debacle. Well, let's hope and pray.... |

And, of course, I know have solid proof I know nothing about football!! Great article, even if I like many others, understood very little of it! I'll stick to berating the Assistants running the Ellerslie Road touchline from now on... |

Genuinely tears in my eyes reading this - could not be happier. We need 'the right stuff" and Charlie is that, in spades |

As ever a great review - I now find myself anxiously waiting for the next missive from LFW Towers with eager anticipation - perhaps I need to get out more. Oh wait I can't... One other aspect for me was BOS - Now I know even less about football than Clive professes to, but whilst BOS really doesn't seem to be a natural wingback, his contribution in that role at Luton was noticeable. I've never really seen him have any defensive qualities - and think Clive has referenced this - but his workmate, tracking back and effectiveness was really noticeable, especially given his speed. Just a thought... BTW I 100% agree that Charlie's impact off the pitch could be as big as on it. |
