Don't know if there's any truth in it but Observer says we are trying to work out a swap deal with Shrews - Grimes for Gornell ?

No thank you, got to keep Grimes.

your blind faith in grimes is bizarre. As has been said by not only myself, but by many, what has grimes actually done, apart from the last month at dale and a half season loan at lincoln to deem him so important to this club. His career on the whole has been disappointing and for an apparent 'clinical finisher' his goals tally is largely disappointing.

Grimes can go missing easily, so far Gornell has put 100% in at dale and always looks to be involved in the games. As i've already said, would take terry gornell any day.

gornell wasn't involved against rotherham or wimbledon

grimes wasn't really either to be fair but still looked a threat and scored a great goal whereas gornell just got frustrated against both cb's

we witnessed what gornell can do on his day against bradford but all the team played very well in that game

i would say keep grimes but if its between keeping grimes until the end of the season or swapping him for gornell and signing gornell to an 18 month contract then surely its a no brainer to get terry gornell

Its a tricky one. I saw Gornell 3 times for Shrews last season, and in 2 of the games, he was hopeless. Went "missing" at least as much as Grimes, if not more. Could we afford any more than a 6 month deal for Gornell, who will be on at least as much as Grimes?

I fully agree that Grimes has been largely disappointing during his time here. However, he has shown what a quality finisher he can be during this last month.Unfulfilled potential sums him up perfectly.

Like I say... tricky. No doubt, it will all come down to money.

I can see the quality of Grimes, he's our best finisher, and the best footballing brain in our team. Why should we be so quick to cast him aside, because he had a poor 1st season, in a struggling team, with no confidence and 2 managers who didn't know what they were doing with him. Coleman is getting the best out of Grimes now, but I feel you wouldn't rate him even if he'd hit 19 goals this season, 'cause he didn't do it last season, this is his second chance, and is finally proving what he can do.

Gornell needs to spend more time off his backside complaining for free kicks, and kicking out at players, but least he gives 100% effort.

Wasn't at the wimbledon game so can't comment, however I think you're being harsh on Gornell against Rotherham, he had a couple of good turn and runs and worked hard against a solid defence.

Ive never thought we should get rid of him, Ive wanted him to play regularly all season, you either build a team around him, or you sell him. He's never been played right since he's been here, now suddenly he's found form, and we want to get rid.

I don't think there are many who actually want to get rid, as they see him as someone who could become a valued member of the squad who can grab a goal, however what they don't see him as is irreplaceable and are cautious when it comes to him, as has been done to death is his attitude and his form over the last 18 months for us, i'd say his first month and the last month are the only two where we have seen form, now to me, thats just not good enough and if he is only going to give us a good month a season, then he's no good to us.

But if we (supposedly) have offered him a new contract, I'd be happier having Grimes on an 18 month contract, I feel he could be worth a bit to us if he stays, on the pitch and financially.

Gornell has kicked out at a player once and if you want to be serious, no one is worse in our squad for berating officials than your man ashley. If a decision goes against him, he becomes a petulant little boy.

If grimes had hit 19 i would have no issues with him whatsoever, because he's doing it for us, however 6 goals in a month does not make him untouchable and does not make us forget just how poor he has actually been for us. He still has alot to prove in a dale shirt as far as i'm concerned, Yes his workrate has improved, Yes he's started to find the back of the net, but he must do it now consistantly.

Grimes has managed to coax his antics down a lot more recently, and is becoming a much better team player because of it, yes he was very petulant but I think Coleman has managed to calm him down in that respect.

Did you go to burton away?

the way you're defending grimes at times is laughable, you'd think you sleep with him at night.

No but he did kick out at an opposition player when he clearly wasn't making the ball and then proceeded to berate the referee, i'm guessing the ref then warned him, only for him to continue with the linesman. But you're right, calmed it right down.

You try and defend him too much. He's as bad as any of the scouse legion in our squad for it and you know it.

I've said all I need to say on Grimes. I'm not gonna defend him for last season when he was at times a pain to watch, but honestly, who wasnt, none of them covered themselves in glory. He's been treated like shite since he's been here, never really been played right, Id be frustrated if I was him, now he looks to be getting to grips with the team, and I'm willing to give him his second chance.

On Dale Player Colin Garlick said that one defender turned us down last week because he preferred to have a permanent deal at the club he was already on loan at. Perhaps someone could work out who that might have been. He also said that he thought he would have someone signed in time for the Dagenham game. We will see.

For what its worth, my guess is Liam Ridealgh who is currently on loan at Rotherham from Huddersfield. He has just extended his loan in the big apple.
