Tazzy as a country a third of all government spending is on welfare. We spend more on it than we generate in income tax. Have a look at this article below: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19873832 Kelly receives almost £2,000 a month in benefits. For somebody working they would have to earn at least £2,600 to get that after they have paid tax and NI. They still have to pay for their mortgage/rent and council tax, which she gets paid for. It is lower taxes and less regulation which will help growth and trade. The welfare budget is 33% of government spending. Overseas aid is 0.07% of government spending. Even if they abolished world aid altogether it would not make that much of a difference to our finances. Now the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan they have been a drain on the coffers, but who took us into those? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

That didn't mean that Tony Blair had to follow him. Also what are your thoughts about the issues raised in my previous post?

I'm probably better off in work but these invisible jobs Cameron says there are don't exist because he's cut a majority of public sector work for private sector work what loads of people are under qualified to do and its about time PM and MP take a cut in their pay packet if were to take anything the lying coalition says seriously

No disrespect meant, but if you sign up to the myriad of job websites out there you will be inundated with daily e mails offering a variety of positions. No guarantee that you will get one of them, but unless you try you never will.

You'll probably be surprised to learn that that number is relatively low. Get into town and register with recruitment agencies. They'll do a lot of the groundwork for you.

I think 'variety of positions' might have happened in a Norwich hotel. Or not!

MPs have had a pay freeze since 2011 in line with many other public sector workers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12814700 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/pay-freeze-for-mps-in-201213-66617 Also if MPs pay was cut dramatically being an MP would only the preserve of the rich. That could mean that Jim Dobbin wouldn't be able to hob nob with Lord Mandleson, Geoffrey Robinson, the Blairs and the like, never mind the Tory Toffs.

Its not the fact that you earn more on benefits, its the that you're better off. there was a girl who worked at the council who was better off on the dole, she had her flat paid for and help with the bills aswel as having her dole money to spend. When she came off the dole, she had to pay her own rent, bills, food, etc. off near to minimum wage, so she was much better off. so no, its not a myth.

That figure includes child benefit. I think that you have missed the fact that all benefits are gross, rather than net. Any person who is working would need to earn almost of third again to account for what they pay in tax and NI. This is without a worker then having to pay bills the lady in the article already has paid for her.

so why do the government pay benefit advisers to get people of the dole by working out there benefits against payed jobs. They might not be much difference and the person turns it down .But they would get more in payed employment.
