Anyone else thrown in the towel? 15:04 - Jan 16 with 7675 viewsmexmike

After what i watched on Saturday ive kinda got it into my head that next year its back to L2 football.
I know it sounds very defeatist but i just cant see any way back playing football (if you can call it that) like that.
Anyone else feeling like that or is it just me?

Yes, the majority of the players feel the same way.

I accepted relegation months ago and just hoped for a miracle. I still do. I'm more pissed off at the utter disgrace that are our terraces and supposed fans. They can shove their banter where the sun doesn't shine, or at least be original. What's happened to the world, does nobody come up with original material anymore?

I cant see us staying up as we are, we need someone to come in now and plan for next season to have a realistic tilt at getting back up. I fear if we stick with Beech I cant see it happening as he doesn't look to be inspiring the team at all, it needs a fresh face to give the whole club a shake up, to get out of this malaze (sp).

Life is a game of fate.

Yes.....Bradford was my turning point..
And confirmation came against yeovil and the final nail was saturdays no show against stevenage...
We are no different now with Beech than we where with Steve Eyre..
A sorry state...

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

I can't see us picking up many points at the moment - but my hope is that come March we sort ourselves out and then have quite a few winnable games starting with Oldham at home, March 17th (winnable because it's a derby). The results below would give us 20 points from our last 10 games, which would probably be enough to stay up. However the run predicted below would be a miracle at the moment, so unless in the next 2 months things aren't majorly turned round we are going down.

Resigned myself to watching League 2 football next season at the end of October, and haven't seen anything since to change my mind.
As regards predicting results and a points total I actually sat reading the programme before kick-off on saturday doing exactly that. I came to a final total of 42 points and I may have been a little generous in a couple of games as well !!

for me it currently looks like the away game at Chesterfield will probably see the loser finish bottom of the table, and unfortunately I can't remember the last time we got a good result at their place !

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

Last time I was there (Saltergate) I'm sure we won 1-0 in the FA Cup. Not a lost cause by any means. The modern equivalent of a Perkins hat-trick would be useful.

No, we are four points from safety with a game in hand. Relegation is still very advoidable, we are only half way through the season afterall.

We're down I'm afraid.

In the previous two seasons 50 points has been sufficient to ensure survival in L1. To achieve the 50 point mark, assuming that will be enough this season, we require 30 points from the 21 remaining games.

Too much to do with this group of players in my opinion.

Last week's result at Hartlepool did it for me, I wasn't there but there was enough nagative comments from people who'd been to the game to suggest that the good work done from the Preston performance hadn't been capitalised on.

yes it looks grim but not insummountable....far too much finger pointing going on in this forum...whats happened has happened,we can only move on to the next game its basically a bottom 7 or 8 mini league to the end of the season,21 games to go,i aint given up and im sure Beech and Kidd will succeed with the support from the terraces on match day its took 40 years to get here so lets not waste our energies slagging people off any post mortems should take place after game 46 and no sooner

There are still 21 games and 63 points to play for but sadly I don't see the leadership, will to win or the sheer cussedness not to get beaten that other Dale teams have shown in the face of this kind of adversity in the past. I have some sympathy with Beech taking off Thompson and Adams and playing 4 centre forwards, at least it looked like intent, trying to win, otherwise we are going down without a wimper.

Frankly I would rather we picked up a shedful of red and yellow cards and tried to kick our way to some points rather than playing useless tippy tappy across the pitch. Its a simple game - get bodies in the box and get the ball there too -then if you lose the ball, get bodies behind the ball until you get it back - all the rest is just froth.

My team would be 6 defenders 4 forwards and boll*x to midfield! or alternatively the 10 tallest players at the club in any formation. We are probably fooked so lets leave this division fighting, scrapping for every ball, contesting every header, no free space, no unchecked runs, no quarter asked and definitely none given and if the refs don't like it well Boll8x to them too!

This season has comprehensively proved that small kids no matter how good they are on a training ground will get hammered by six foot plus athletes in their mid 20s and that once they get to late 20s-early 30s league 1 is too physical for the majority of players.
Memo to next manager - all future signings must be 20-26 years old over 6foot and bloody quick - then figure out if they can play a bit

Sorry rant over - thank god there was no interweb in the 70s!

My 9 year old grandson asked me on Saturday, "Why are the other teams players so much bigger"?

Now, if he can see it................

The prospect of league 2 football next season is becoming more of a reality - however I would not write us off just yet. A lot will depend on how other teams perform as well as us - fingers crossed.

No, but it gives them a distinct advantage when the ball needs heading - which is what they're best at.

Agree , we are in a dog fight within the bottom 7 or so,
Come on all you Dale supporters , We have waited 40 bloody to get out of that bottom league.
I for one am NOT giving up until it is mathematically impossible for us to stay up .
If Dunphy wants to give Beech a chance then lets just get behind them.
I am pretty certain that the whole board would prefer lge 1 football,
UP THE DALE
