Stockport 3 - 3 QPR 21:41 - Jan 9 with 1421 viewsStreathamRanger

Anyone else there for this classic game? Can't have been more than a couple of hundred. Just reminded myself of it while chatting to a Palace mate who play Stockport in the cup this Sunday.
It was my first year of uni up at Leeds. Went to most of the northern away games that year including a terrifying trip to Maine road where we somehow fluked a win. Good times.

Yep. Went up on supporters club coach as had no other option. Coach got delayed in way up and had to stop for half an hour to give driver his mandatory break.

This meant missing kick off, so three of us got a cab from some service station from outside Manchester to the ground. Still missed kick off and we were one down by the time we got in and only beat the coach by about ten minutes and a few quid.

We were three down by half time and it was all fairly miserable and no beer either in the away end as far as I remember, could be wrong.

Still was fairly miserable until we got two goals in a couple of minutes, then Gallen in the last minute sent us all a bit doolally.

But we could and should have won it. In added time ,Kiwomya got in for a one on one with the keeper, beat him and looked for the world it was in… it trickled past the post… oh man that would have been orgasmic! A bit like Lloyd and that chance against Luton the other night.

Back in supporters club coach, no beer just when I needed it most.

Great comeback but the Incenzo commentary just ruins everything . Can never forgive him for ithe rdiculous song about Ferdinand when he scored a cracker at Wimbledon

I didn't go to the Stockport but went to the City win where we won 3-1 . Can't remember it being a fluke and the only thing terrifying was the that awful temp stand !

You'd have to go some to beat the Port Vale game.

You're right. It wasn't a fluke win at Maine Road, more of a surprise win. I got to that game late and they'd closed the turnstiles to the away end so a steward walked us through the home end, around the outside of the pitch to that weird temporary stand in the corner. As we were on our way round we scored our opening goal. Fortunately my scarf was well tucked inside my jacket. The locals were very unimpressed with the result and it was a bit sketchy getting out of moss side in my mate's little rover metro.

You'd have to go that bit further for the 5-5 at home to Newcastle in 1984.

I've been fortunate to have been at that game, plus the Port Vale 4-4 and the Stockport revival. If the footage in the OP is the one I've seen before, you can see my us Manc R's around our flag. Stockport was a bit of a 'derby' fixture and we always met at the Working Men's Club behind the away end before and after. Which was a cracking venue, cheap as chips and we'd be home in time for 'North West Tonight'.

God...Terry Cinzano.

How many times does he mention himself in that two minutes?
Yes, Cinzano. Because YOU are the story.

Stockport became a bit of a bogey team after the knocked us out the FA Cup in 94 when we had great team and a realistic chance of winning g the thing. That was a shocking result..
