So we've now signed 3 young keepers on long term contracts.

I'm not convinced they will throw Walsh straight into the number 1 spot and I don't think Asmir will sign an extension.

My prediction is....

Bring in a keeper on loan for 12 months
Mahoney to be number 2
Salamon number 3

Walsh goes out on a 12 month loan in preparation for him to be number 1 in the 25/26 season.

Read somewhere that Brighton data nerds had pinpointed young goalies as under valued and so signed a load… copying them is fine with me!

Mahoney just looks to small to be successful to me. Think we may get in a 1&2 Loan Walsh and keep two for DS.

Agree about Mahoney but Kenny and Camp werent huge either.

For those with longer memories, the diminutive Alan Spratley didn't fare too well.

I agree, between the sticks he looks tiny. But googled and he's 6ft 2, is that right?

Shay Given was considered a short keeper at 6ft 1, Pickford also same height.

I don't think he's that tall...

It'll be interesting to see what they do as ideally all three should be out on loan respectively next season - whether that is 6 months or a year?!

I'd be sending Salamon out for at least 6 months hopefully L2 or higher but contradicting myself maybe a national league side to rough him up abit.

The interesting conundrum comes with Walsh and Mahoney, I think Walsh is higher in the pecking order but do they believe he is ready to be No1 at a championship club? If not sitting on the bench all season isn't going to make him ready to be No1?

Interesting...

In that pic at least Dieng looks the shortest, and he was damn good in the air.

His frame is a good deal smaller than Dieng, something he can work on.

He's also closer to the camera....

If Walsh is 6'3, Dieng is 6'4, Archer 6'3....I would say that Mahoney is maybe just over 6'0

I'm less concerned about Mahoney's height (I think he showed on loan at Swindon that he's a decent shot stopper) - can he command his box and play out from the back?

Speaking of 5' 6", one of the oddest decisions I've ever seen in football came when we were one-down at The Bridge, when Chelsea's keeper was sent off and they replaced him with diminutive striker, David Speedie.

Purely based on the photos in his contract signing announcement it looks as if he has filled out a fair bit over the last year - looks to be packing more muscle on his upper body. Always thought he looked very slight which contributed to him looking even smaller between the posts so that might be something.

Both Walsh (Accrington) and Mahoney (Swindom) had productive loans last season. If they aren't ready now, when will they be?

Frankly, if Begovic was on the wages rumoured, him leaving would free up so much to fund other parts of the squad
