We lost one of our longest standing true supporters on Tuesday 18:12 - Mar 28 with 4620 views | sevenhoop | Tommy Wareham, my dad (formerly of Heston and latterly of Wraysbury and Old Windsor), died, aged 91 years old. He told me that he first went to see the R's before WW2, with his own father, who was a passionate fan too (he died in the early 50's). Dad used to regale us with stories of his early games, White City, early Loftus Road and had had a season ticket, along with my mum, who survives him, since the early 60's. I’ve been going as a season ticket holder since 1966 and my own son, Tom, who is now 32, has had a season since he was 5. Even now, Dad still has a season ticket as does mum. Before he had children, dad was the only QPR supporter in the family. He brought up 3 children to support them and we now have about 20 R's supporters in the wider family. I think it's fair to say that he did his bit for the club. He loved the R's lived for them, and for his family. And just a short note for Chris - Chris, you'll remember "rescuing” my mum and dad when we were making the long detour from Ellerslie after a Millwall evening game and when they were separated amongst the threatening hordes and frankly petrified, and I will never forget that act of kindness.

Always tough to lose a parent even if they have got into their nineties. My condolences to you and all your family. Hope QPR do him proud over this bank holiday weekend. It will be tough. I very much miss going into post match analysis after a game with my old dad but sure he will be watching down somehow. Good luck to you all.

We lost one of our longest standing true supporters on Tuesday on 23:21 - Mar 28 with 3937 views | fournil | As one f the QPR supporters in the wider Wareham family, I can attest to the wonderful servitude my Uncle Tommy gave to the club. He was like a father to my own Dad and I probably wouldn’t have the passion and love for the club that we all collectively have without him. I will always cherish being taken to watch the team in the mid-eighties as an impressionable 10 year old and would happily drop by V block in Ellerslie Road whenever I had a ticket there in later years (my season ticket was in the Upper Loft so this was more difficult on a regular basis) to have a catch up and discuss the finer points of the game at that point. He was a wonderful QPR man and will be sorely missed. RIP Uncle Tommy.

We lost one of our longest standing true supporters on Tuesday on 21:06 - Mar 29 with 3274 views | sevenhoop | Thanks for kind comments all. I picked up my son Tom when Jimmy scored (but hard as he’s much bigger than me) and swung him around like I never have. And then I cried my eyes out thinking how excited dad would’ve been . What a goal by a truly wholesome lad, never complained when out of the team , always gives 100% and I can honesty say that in the form he’s in, the best right back we’ve had since Danny Simpson and David Bardsley. A person and player who we should all be proud to have at the club.

Lovely tribute to your Dad, Sevenhoop. He certainly was a loyal supporter and it's fantastic that so many of your extended family are now R's fans. Those moments with your son when Jimmy scored will provide an unforgettable memory and I'm sure most of us in your position would have burst into tears too. RIP your Dad, Tommy. Totally agree with you also that Jimmy is a person and player we should all be proud to have at the Club.
