No Confidence 08:22 - Jun 6 with 5714 views | Lorax | At last it's happened, there will be a confidence vote on Bojo. I think he could lose, he should lose. I think a lot of MP's will vote against him but many of them weren't brave enough to go public with their opinion in case it affected their careers. That's the self serving kind putting themselves first. it's a secret ballot now though so they can carry on hiding while getting rid of Bojo. Question now is, if he's ousted, who replaces him. desite his recent issues, Sunak?

No Confidence on 21:57 - Jun 6 by jack_lord | Exactly, Boris is about as Tory as Blair was a Labour man. He has survived his vote of confidence but he stats are bad. Worse than many other Tory PM's who were gone by the next election. He only cares about himself and the Boris show so the Teflon act will continue for a year unless the insiders will pressure him to go with more bad results. The next two bi elections will be the start. |
Looks like the remainer Tory MPs have not forgotten that he got brexit done as per wishes of the British electorate who voted for it in the referendum and endorsed it the 2019 General election.

It’s nothing to do with Brexit, he’s drawing flak from all over the Conservative Party. His biggest critics include the arch brexiteers David Davis and Stephen Baker. It’s all to do with sleaze and braking the law.

It's nothing to do with brexit. By not dumping them they have thrown the next GE wide open and if Starmer is forced to fall on his sword we'll see a very interesting election, new faces may be possible in a lot of seats if people lose faith in the big 2. Now is the time for the other parties to start pushing for change, for a strengthening and tightening of the rules, make a big thing about decency and honesty, give Labour and Tory a good kicking and we may see change.

I get what you’re saying but just because the referendum an GE was won, that doesn’t mean the government stop working for those who didn’t support them. A government has to work for the whole country. Referendums can prove difficult as the binary choice removes all nuance. If Truss gets in, remainers will probably point out that she campaigned to stay so she must have thought that was best.

The difference is Truss accepted the result and has worked tirelessly to make Brexit a success since.

In what way? A bunch of trade agreements with countries with economies smaller than a UK town? If Truss is the best on offer then we really are doomed

It's all to do with public perception. They wouldn't care less about Partygate if he was still riding high in the polls. At the moment he's beginning to look like an election loser, a far bigger crime.

No Confidence on 08:02 - Jun 7 with 1373 views | Kilkennyjack | Great result tbh. As OHL says Johnson only cares about Johnson. Labour are flying and Johnson will lose his own seat. His ego will not allow that, so he will resign before the next election. The new Tory leader will have no time. So does not really matter who. I dont think it will be anyone Johnson has appointed in Cabinet. Two by-elections coming up will pile the pressure on. He really is the worst of us. Dreadful.

Sunak has been highly unpopular in some quarters since the covid bomb dropped. Despite all is pandering and populist ideas he lost them approximately 3 million votes in one fell swoop over his lack of support for small businesses. He’s fully exposed as the criminal fraud that he clearly is now so only those with sh!t for brains, aka Bojo fans, will keep on bending over for him.

But isn't partygate part of the reason he's polling so badly? Maybe those who backed him did so partly because they worry the government could collapse and an early GE is called which sees Labour win. Is it more about self preservation than supporting Bojo? Now Jacob Rees-Mogg, after what he said about Theresa May, what does he say about Bojo? I'm expecting an hypocrisy overload to be honest!

First he claimed the press aren't always in touch with public opinion and that the public supported Bojo. The big one though, when he was asked about the 1922 Committee looking to change the rules so another vote could be held in 6 months he said, you can't just change the rules to suit yourself! Yeah Dom the Dick, Bojo would never try and change the rules to suit himself!

The next election is in the bag for the tories with or without Boris. All this sleaze, all this scandal, lies, lawbreaking and unadulterated incompetence and yet labour aren’t really making any traction. They should be way out ahead. I thought Corbyn was bad but Starmer is even more impotent. For the tories this is just pure naked politics and opportunism. Factions within the party working behind the scenes trying to get Boris out so they can get their guy (or girl) in. Gove, Hunt etc will have their followers primed and ready to be rewarded with ministerial roles and knighthoods if successful.

Sunak refused to back small businesses with support because he was concerned about possible fraud. Instead what he put in place was defrauded to the tune of £54bn. The man is a fraud and does all he can to damage small businesses in the UK.

Good to see the Ukrainian president back our Prime Minister. He at least recognises all the good work our Prime Minister. Would be good to see how many of the MPs who voted against him were either remainer MPs, sacked or former government ministers out for revenge. As Churchill once said the opposition sit on the benches opposite your enemies sit behind you.

Seems Lord Geidt the PM’s Standards advisor isn’t backing him and has now quit which is a damning indictment of Boris Johnson. He’s the second one to quit in the last 3 years. I’d have though it must be pretty bad if an establishment figure like Lord Geidt has thought it necessary to quit. Geidt was selected for the post on Boris’s watch (probably by Boris himself), he’s a former diplomat, senior official in the Queen’s entourage and an establishment type character. His departure follows that of John Penrose the anti corruption last week. I suppose it doesn’t help that Boris has introduced a ministerial code of conduct which doesn’t include a number of the key recommendations the review recommended. Something is seriously not right in the hart of government. If our politicians bevone unaccountable we’ll end up like Putin’s Russia, or places like Zimbabwe.
