Had me in tears reading that. One of my all time favourite players. Just five England caps was criminal.

Lovely player, Hard but fair and he could really play, I started watching him as a seven year old and was 17 when he left, I think if we had the TV coverage and analytics back then that we have now he would surely have had more england caps. If he had been playing for Leeds or Liverpool he would have been a shoe in

Pretty certain the pub they were in is the Norreys Barn in Wokingham.

Ian Gillard and Phil Parkes lived in Wokingham then and as five years old in nearby shops, Ian Gillard gave me QPR Club Badge Panini sticker as he was married to one my dinner ladies at school.

My dad used go in that pub.

Wow.

Such a sad end to his life, Mental Health not talked about then.

From the video, Clements was coming across very controlled.

Brilliant and sad wrapped up as one.

Just ordinary wages back then.

Crikey how life has changed !!!!

Ordinary wages indeed …He drove a Morris Marina!!!

Yes, very different times. The days when you could live next door to a first division professional footballer who drove a bog standard family car.

Poll: Which is the worst QPR team?

I saw most of his games as I was regular home and away in those days.
He was a fantastic defender in the modern day wing back mode popping up in the box to score a goal.
He played for England under 18 . , and 5 games for the senior team should have been more at the time their wasn't a better player in his position IMO
His partnership with Ian Gillard was the backbone of one of the best teams ever at Rangers. Always dependable and when I met him on an open day he came over as one of the nicest most humble people I have ever met .
When I heard he took his own life by drinking poison in his garage I was gutted it felt like losing a close friend..
40 years I can't believe it was that long.
Very emotional day today for me reading that
Thinking of you Dave mate
