That apology is worthless. I had trouble at the SA turnstiles from 14.00 onwards way before the 14.50 time they stipulate here. [Post edited 7 Aug 2021 23:39]

I entered the ground at 2:35 ish and the issues had definitely started by then. SAR too.
Still huge queues outside ground on 08:51 - Aug 8 with 2568 views | OakR | I went into Ellerslie around 2.25pm and a family of 5 couldn't get in and were told to go the box office, but it was meant to be one on ER. Either way the steward scanned the tickets and said they should be working but were not.

Still huge queues outside ground on 17:40 - Aug 7 by 1MoreBrightonR | Massive over reaction here. We are all acting like the club are rolling out some crazy technology never tested anywhere. It's just a QR code. They are used at concert's, trains tickets and boarding passes all over, for years. We arrived at 2.30. Long line which moved fast. A few people had issues but we were in within ten minutes. One of our tickets was a screen shot forwarded on WhatsApp and worked fine. I'm not saying it was smooth for all, but let's not pretend the club are rolling out some crazy technology and it was chaos. |
Glad you got in OK. For the people (such as myself) who missed their goal and at least the first 15 mins it really isn't a 'massive over reaction'.
Still huge queues outside ground on 10:03 - Aug 8 with 2459 views | golborne | I think this discussion should be sans ER, cos that’s been a shit show forever when the stand is greater than 2/3’s full. I got to the upper loft at 2.40 and had maybe 10 in front of me using 4 turnstiles, so easy as. SR looked a little busier, but nothing too awful. When I sat in ER and had that extra pint, I often did, I knew what I’d be facing, especially for evening kick offs when the place was half empty. Felt like there were more outside than in

I had no trouble in SAR , there were loads of people pointing the code at the wrong place then declaring that the scanner wasnt working causing a big swing to the other line until a steward came , got them in and it all started again .
Still huge queues outside ground on 11:34 - Aug 8 with 2303 views | Northernr | We got there earlier than usual anticipating problems, queue was way longer than it ever had been before, mine worked, Rob’s worked directly behind me same turnstile, then Andy’s didn’t. No rhyme or reason to it. In the end I think a steward just waved him through. It is not unreasonable to think you should make kick off if you turn up at 20 to three.

ER was way worse than I've ever seen it though in about 20 years of sitting there. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'd have agreed with just 20 mins before kick off back in my drinking days - always time for "one more", but it was inevitable that this was going to be busy and no anything less than 30 mins would be pushing it in my eyes. What should have happened is that there should have been more "local" stewards available; sending people off to the Box Office from all sides of the ground is massively unreasonable. Just like the re-cast debacle, this should never have happened and I hope that they get their stuff sorted for the next few home games...

Scanned through a side gate no problem. Now im no techno wizard but that looks like the turnstiles were not set to scan a barcode, which if true is a f uck up. so the club are to blame! By the way i found a pair of gloves at the back of the upper loft covered in cobwebs that i left they at the last game i was at 17 months ago! So dont look like they even clean the stadium now!

Still huge queues outside ground on 14:06 - Aug 8 with 2112 views | sevenhoop | my god there's some condescending BS on this thread and it's actually quite upsetting and annoying. it is frankly ridiculous that this system was not tried and tested way before the first game back. It has nothing to do with it "being Millwall". Yes we had to face the usual road closures meaning a much longer walk round but the hold up at the turnstiles has f all to do with who we were playing; it's because the technology did not work. To arrive with 15 minutes to go before kick off and look at queues that were 45 minutes at least to get in is a disgrace and can potentially lead crowd trouble with crowd noise coming from within the ground. i back the club at all times in all situations but thi9s is beyond the pale. thank god my elderly parents didn't go(they cant walk the longer way around) as to arrive and see that queue would have been too distressing for them. Still huge queues outside ground on 14:29 - Aug 8 with 2078 views | daveB | I'm not normally critical of the club but yesterday was a shambles. All well and good saying get to the ground early but when the roads are shut to get to Loftus Road and you have to walk the long way and navigate past the Millwall police escort that made us leaving the pub at 2 we didn't get to the turnstile till nearly half past. We were lucky and got in without any issues but lets face it we all knew this was going to happen, when I got to a show or a concert they give you a QR code for your phone but also a paper version so if the QR code fails you can say here is the other one and in you go rather than being sent back to the box office. There has been no communication that a new season ticket card with the QR code on was needed for entry if you used the non digital ticket so if your post was delayed this week you turned up with the old ticket and couldn't get in Inside the stadium it was an absolute farce. £5.50 for a can of carlsberg which was poured in front of you, one woman doing the pouring and serving whilst 3 people cooked hot dogs, queues were massive as well. Really wasn't good enough

Still huge queues outside ground on 16:43 - Aug 8 with 1939 views | MedwayR | So Lee Hoos struggles to understand why crowds were low for Man U & Leicester, maybe he should try the fan experience before he comments. Just look at this thread for few clues! The fact that tickets aren’t cheap and have a booking fee on top, for seats with no leg room and shoddy food/drink served up at over the top prices, on top of that the turnstiles might not let you in. Wonder why crowds are low…

Still huge queues outside ground on 17:45 - Aug 7 by EmpireStateRanger | I think these sort of things are to be expected when instituting a new procedure on a day when there would be loads of people coming to the stadium for the first time in 18 months, preseason aside. Club did give warnings to arrive earlier than usual, and yes the transition probably could have been test ran a few more times by operations, but it sounds like growing pains to me. If there are still issues midway through the season then that’s another story… |
as I said though, club said arrive early and opened 15 minutes late!

The messages about the old card HAVE been mixed I agree. But I was told 4 times - 2 emails from the box office (last one at 7.30pm on Friday), 1 phone conversation plus the email from Ticketmaster that my old card would work - and it did!
Still huge queues outside ground on 17:27 - Aug 8 with 1800 views | Pikey | A number of us in other threads had predicted this balls up and the club told us we were wrong. For my part arrived earlier than normal and no issues with new season tkt card at upper loft entrance. However my son has not recieved his card yet ( could be to do with the pingdemic and shortage of posties) so old card declined but a steward scanned old tkt and let him and nany others in the gate. Seems it wasnt so well organised at other parts of the ground. The blue and white bar was a farce with too few staff and some who had clearly never poured a pint in their life, only one debit card machine. Why dont they have 3 staff just pre pouring drinks with others selling them. Would reduce queues and also maybe improve the matchday experience. They have had 17 months to sort this out and clearly have not done much perhaps if Mr Hoos did a few sessions on the turnstiles and in the bars rather than films telling us how good he is, things might change.

Had the fun of standing in the Blue and White bar in a queue for 20 minutes without moving chatting to blokes in front gave it up as a bad job. Service as slow and bad as this is not going to help recoup lost revenue for the club. Upper Loft kiosk was actually worse ah well should help my liver

Luckily my brother went and joined the queue at 3.40 and he was just getting served at 3.50.Therewas one bloke serving who didn’t seem to know that you have to fill the glasses to the brim,so the woman there had to top them up for him. Then he didn’t seem to know how to work the card machine. I don’t suppose it helps if they sell pie and mash there too,as it just slows everything down. There are other places to get food in the ground.Keep the bar for selling drinks, not food. I don’t think I’ll bother going in there at half-time again.

This has always been a problem at Rangers, for as long as I've been going. Thousands of people trying to give the club money for drinks and food, and they just don't seem to want it. That's why it's easier to go the pub, which results in a last-minute crush to get in.
Still huge queues outside ground on 06:21 - Aug 9 with 1424 views | superhoopdownunder | I wasn’t at the game as based in Australia and currently unable to go more than 5kms from my house never mind go interstate or overseas. Having read this thread believe someone at the club needs to listen to the fans and fix these issues. Seems like a lot of fans had poor experiences getting into the ground and then utilising facilities whether it was catering or even as simple as cleaning your hands in the toilets. Good to see we have improved so much on the pitch - be nice if we can replicate this off the pitch too. I have sent an email to Lee Hoos directing him to this thread and hope he listens and responds to these issues rather than dismiss them. U R’s [Post edited 9 Aug 2021 6:22]
