Congratulations President Biden on 12:32 - Jan 21 by Catullus | I accept that Trump got some things right ut still, don't you think his behaviour was, in the end, ruinous and did the USa god only knows how much damage. I watched a report last night, John Sopel on the inauguration first but later they were talking to the leader of a right wing militia group in Texas. Him and people like him are talking seperation, seceding from the United States as a real possibility. How much more ruinous can it get than to have talk of secession? It can only be worse if they actually do secede. That is Trumps legacy now. |
Yes he let himself down in the end, almost became a parody of what people were fraudulently trying to make him out to be for so long, what the media was desperate to portray him as. Like it or not, the American people of all demographics had the best standard of life under that administration than any other, of course until Covid hit the world. Highest family income, lowest unemployment and the economy was booming. But it was a circus in the end, media and democrats falling over themselves to convince each-other of actions that were not made, selectively mishear quotes that were never made and link to groups to which there was no link. American politics became poisonous and dishonest and the blame lies with many people, including those that have just entered the WH. Anyone expecting positive change in terms of policy are going to be let down badly, clearly. But it may make democrats/anarchists behave better, or be policed better and people can get back to some sort of normality without fear of more rioting from criminals that were sadly allowed to get away with such behaviour as it was convenient.

But that doesnt apply to all though . Issue is Trump has single handedly divided the nation with his posturing. Make no mitake, plenty thi side of the pond will be wanting Biden to fail to justify their own personal views so they wont be seen as being wrong. Basic human failing. Admit being wrong;something Trump sees as weakness and the act of a loser-the worst insult possible to an American.

What doesn't apply t all? I don't subscribe to the suggestion the division in America is down to Trump. He is part of it as he was the target of the media and the Democrats and wasn't going to shy away, but it is a stretch to say it was his doing. The division came from the riots after the George Floyd incident, after that Trump signed the police reform as he was requested to. Not sure how you can blame the George Floyd incident on Trump.

Fraudulently? We'll have to disagree there, again. I think in the end Trump just showed his true colours in a way that couldn't be denied or glossed over. I told you I thought him divisive and look where the USA is, in a ruinous state. The USa had pretty much the same choice as we had in the UK with Bojo and Corbyn, do we choose this idiot or that idiot. It came down to which idiot will probably do less harm but that was more a guess than anything else.

Everyone always chucks this term around but can anybody explain what this actually means and why it’s a bad thing? Surely every democracy is always divided otherwise you’d end up with one party getting 100% of the vote like in North Korea. It’s good to have people with different opinions right?

''Very fine people'' is still being bandied about today isn't it? It was that non comment and fraudulent reporting that launched the democrat and media offensive regarding the race issues, which were than sparked after the Floyd incident. I would say much, if not the majority, of the division is down to media manipulation of the truth.

The big difference (to me) is between divisive and different. Divisve pits people against each other and ends up with the Capitol Hill riots. Different opinions and points of view don't necessarily do that. Trump was like Brexit, he polarised the views and turned people against each other in a more aggressive way.

Riot (singular). That was the one riot where you can say it was Republican in nature. Before that it was 10 months of Democrat rioting egged on by Democrat politicians, including those now in the WH. To blame that on Trump, although fashionable, is clearly inaccurate.

No it didn't .It is there. In the streets of south Chicago,Baltimore ,Watts and countless other hot spots of hate and deprivation couple with naked racism. Promising to bring back Steel in the rust belt of Ohio and Pennsylvania hasnt done much to heal the years of divide. How do you feel ,as a man, when you clap eyes on Trump and his trophy wife

The media have behaved appallingly. Now Trump is objectively a moron, unnecessarily abrasive and thoroughly unlikeable but no other president in history has faced such sustained and irrational hostility. Bill Clinton is still treated with quite a bit of respect despite spending much of his presidency shafting young girls over the desk of the Oval Office while his wife was in the building then lying about it openly under oath, also getting accused of rape by multiple people over several decades. George Bush (senior and junior) sent young lads to a stupid illegal war resulting in countless deaths and untold misery. Obama’s administration was often riddled with scandal. He struggled to achieve much. But was often immune to any sort of criticism. Now Biden and his entire family violates his own executive order within hours after making a massive deal about leading by example and hardly anyone is reporting on it. Can you imagine the uproar if it were Trump? It would be rolling news on both sides of the Atlantic. This is what happens when journalism is replaced by activism.

Nah the huge majority of people don’t resort to violence. The number of people rioting at the capitol or the BLM places are so insignificant to the 400 million population or whatever it is, most of whom generally behave in an appropriate manner. You’ve got the BLM rioters and antifa on one side and the proud boys and the boogallie woogallie idiots on the other and there’s millions of normal people in the middle just shaking their heads and wishing everyone would grow up.

That is because of Trump' demeanour. If he appeared humble ,it would not be so.You cannot boast "we're gonna build a wall-oh yes "followed up by racist slurs and not expect derision. Clinton, like it or not, was a smart politician ,albeit one who facilitated the release of hundreds of murderers in NI in the peace process . He did however, save further genocide in the Balkans . Most former presidents over history have skeletons left behind including Kennedy Trump simply eats himself .

What racist slurs? The wall is to stop illegal immigration, it has nothing to do with race. Mexico also have a wall to stop similar illegal immigration from Guatemala.

For some of that you have to understand Americans. Clinton for example, they didn't seem to mind him getting jiggy with Lewinsky but they minded him lying about it. Accusations of rape mean nothing unless there is a conviction though I agree Trump would have been murdered for the same. The Bush war thing, Americans love the idea of being the Sheriff's posse riding to the rescue of being the world police, they (as a country, not individuals) don't even seem to mind if they kill allies along the way, friendly fire my Neal Harris! Obama, you can't be criticisng the USA's first black president, it's not on, jst not accepabel because, well.....ummmm..... Times have changed and Trump IS partly to blame for that because he is a moron, abrasive and unlikeable.

“though I agree Trump would have been murdered for the same” So why do you think he would be murdered while the media is generally quite positive when it comes to Mr Clinton and his numerous affairs despite the #metoo movement examining the dynamics between men in power and sex and also his continuous links with Jeffrey Epstein, the Lolita express and Orgy Island? When allegations about Biden emerged the media fell over themselves to describe him as very tactile, overly affectionate and touchy feely. https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-us-canada-47778527 If you can say that Trump would be murdered by the media for doing exactly the same as other presidents then you can see the problem. We have to hold them all to the same standard. If they really cared about #metoo and the way these women are often treated they’d condemn it all, not just the guy on the other side.

Oh I can't deny the media has a lot to answer for. Take the rabid suport for BLM no matter what they did. I think the media worldwide are part of the problem these days. Was Corbyn as bad as he was often painted? Having seen the state of the USA that sems a more valid question now. The media empired need to be broken up, the rules around reporting need to be stricter. But then that's true for politics too in my opinion. We are being manipulated, by the media, by politicians, by the rich and powerful.
