I accept that Trump got some things right ut still, don't you think his behaviour was, in the end, ruinous and did the USa god only knows how much damage.
I watched a report last night, John Sopel on the inauguration first but later they were talking to the leader of a right wing militia group in Texas. Him and people like him are talking seperation, seceding from the United States as a real possibility. How much more ruinous can it get than to have talk of secession? It can only be worse if they actually do secede. That is Trumps legacy now. |
Yes he let himself down in the end, almost became a parody of what people were fraudulently trying to make him out to be for so long, what the media was desperate to portray him as. Like it or not, the American people of all demographics had the best standard of life under that administration than any other, of course until Covid hit the world. Highest family income, lowest unemployment and the economy was booming.
But it was a circus in the end, media and democrats falling over themselves to convince each-other of actions that were not made, selectively mishear quotes that were never made and link to groups to which there was no link. American politics became poisonous and dishonest and the blame lies with many people, including those that have just entered the WH. Anyone expecting positive change in terms of policy are going to be let down badly, clearly.
But it may make democrats/anarchists behave better, or be policed better and people can get back to some sort of normality without fear of more rioting from criminals that were sadly allowed to get away with such behaviour as it was convenient. |  |

I don't subscribe to the suggestion the division in America is down to Trump. He is part of it as he was the target of the media and the Democrats and wasn't going to shy away, but it is a stretch to say it was his doing.

Nah the huge majority of people don’t resort to violence. The number of people rioting at the capitol or the BLM places are so insignificant to the 400 million population or whatever it is, most of whom generally behave in an appropriate manner.

Take the rabid suport for BLM no matter what they did. I think the media worldwide are part of the problem these days.
Was Corbyn as bad as he was often painted? Having seen the state of the USA that sems a more valid question now.
