Some scabby bàstard has stolen my £700 bike from the bike racks, it was locked up, it’s a secure site so can only be someone I work with, manager currently looking at cctv . Not happy

The police cost the UK tax payer £18 billion a year. With around 30.3 million tax payers that's just under £600 per person.

For that, the police solve 7.8% of all reported crimes. I'm not at all sure we get value for money. Seems to me Loftboy should get a tax refund for that amount, it would help go a long way to getting him another bike.

For the record, in my life I've been robbed twice - no arrests ever made. Been assaulted once - punched and kicked until unconscious - assailants fined £100 and told not to misbehave for 3 years.

Think a taser would be more use to me than a policeman.

Gutted for you Loftboy , my bike is my pride & joy gets me to work , it’s new and someone has already had a go at it , I‘d rather walk now than leave it outside for 5 minutes .I even bring it into the pitch at westway rather than leave it outside, if they can’t take it then they will damage it for you , You go to work to do an honest days collar and they think they can just help themselves .

Cheer everyone, have to accept I’m not getting it back (spent nearly £60 on new tyres two weeks ago) work say they aren’t liable so will use my crime number to claim off house insurance, still a huge inconvenience though.

Used to be a time when ex servicemen were on a direct route into the police force. Nowadays its more a mark against their application, especially in the way they would be required to operate.

Gutted for you LB

Keep an eye on Gumtree, it's awash with stolen bikes

You could also use both to tell peps of your bike, photos?

What lock did you have on it?

Had my golf clubs nicked out of the boot of my car a couple of years ago, the only thing the police were good for were a crime number so I could claim off the insurance!
It wasn’t losing the clubs that hurt the most but the personal stuff in the bag that I’d collected over the years from different societies that I can’t replace.
The insurance company were a nightmare, I even had to give them a copy of my handicap certificate and some photos of the clubs (who had those?!) to prove I actually played golf and it wasn’t a scam to get £1,500 out of them!

I wouldn’t be happy with your work security but it should help your claim for insurance.

I was sitting at home on Sunday about 8pm when I heard a noise outside and some kids had thrown a egg at my back window. I dived out and saw kids running off/ cycling away. 5 mins later daughter came home, I told her and she had seen them half a mile away. I had already thrown a bucket of water at the windows as I didn’t want a stain etc. I then go out and identify the kids. Police had been called and I told them that the kids had damaged my window and now stood on the m25 bridge probably egging cars... nothing happened or they came out. Wife got a message from the Runnymede beat/ Facebook book as she had notified them that way too. They were still sending messages 2 hours later. They don’t leave a Facebook book these days and never patrol... its all social media and Twitter. Also it’s not damage as I cleared it off, if I paid a window cleaner it would be....

It was a scummy cûnt who squeezed past the gap in the car park barrier, hoodie and mask, no chance I’ll see that again.

Did they actually show you the CCTV footage. If security is a tight as you say, unlikely some random thief would slip and out unchallenged. Could be that management don't want the hassle of one employee stealing off another

I would inform your insurance of the CCTV and ask for a copy, even if you have to make a copy on your phone.

You could tell the cops too, even if they do nothing, you will have informed them.

If the CCTV has *disappeared* I'd be seriously asking how come and who would want it to.

We had some opportunists cycle down to our Car park and nick a crash helmet off a motorbike from guy who makes me look average size. (our contractors put the roller shutter on stop)

I'd love him to meet the guy who stole it but as I said to him. He's probably sold it on.

about 3 years ago there was a lot of motorbike helmets nicked over here during TT week, they reckon a gang had come over with the sole objective of grabbing them.
Surprised there was a market for them?

So back to work today, turns out mine wasn’t the only one taken Tuesday, the other one was also an expensive one, looks like they were nicked to order.

We have a “gate office” a few months ago they laid the guards off that manned it, all the security are now in the main building just concentrated on staff searches on the way out.

I can imagine how you feel LB, hope i was insured in some way.

When my kids were nippers we took them to a holiday park in Weymouth. As we approached the caravan after an evening out, i saw someone in the van so ran in there just as he was pouring himself out of one of the bedroom windows.

Legged out the van and chased the little scrote across the site but wasted too much breath telling him what i was going to do to him when i caught him...which i didn't...and sulked because i didn't!

These thieving little cụnts make my blood boil thinking they have the right to take hard working people's gear, lob off their hands i say.

Crime, like every other aspect of British industry, is having to be outsourced. The rare books stolen from a warehouse in Feltham 3 years ago have just been found in Romania.

'The recovery of the 200 books, which include first editions of significant works by Galileo and Sir Isaac Newton, is the culmination of a three-year police operation that involved raids on 45 addresses across three countries and led to charges against 13 people.

The books were stolen from a postal transit warehouse in Feltham in January 2017 en route to a specialist book auction in Las Vegas. Two men, Daniel David and Victor Opariuc, broke in by cutting holes into the warehouse roof before abseiling into the building, perching on shelving inside to avoid sensors that would have set off alarms.'
