I do hope that doesn’t bump up his asking price!

O'Rourke is normally pretty spot on.

Not sure I trust this guy though

Holy shit balls.

Humphrys, another striker, a left back and keep Rathbone and we’re ready for the season. Sort of.

Have we broken our transfer record to sign him? Worth it though if he does what we think he can.

I would have thought so. If we haven’t we’ll have equalled or got very close to it.

Even at a club record fee it’s a good investment.

Good thing is he is not an unknown quantity.

He’s still a bit raw, we need to remember that. But he’s a handful and he’ll score goals. He’s a very good signing and a boost for the whole club.

That's a good signing. He reminds me a bit of Stevie Whitehall, let's hope he finds the net as often.

Booooo Bottomley, booooooooo!
Booooo the Board, booooooooo!

IF Dale have pulled this signing off, and it looks very likely we have, the people in charge should be applauded. Money HAS been made available for the right signings.

We’re still short on numbers, no doubt. We need a left back and another striker at the very least, but this is a huge step in the right direction.

He is one of the last few pieces in the jigsaw of BBM's style of play I reckon and that's why the board have been prepared to invest.

He certainly scores some cracking goals, Newby playing in behind him could be quite exciting

Paying money for a goalscoring forward is far less of a risk as there are always clubs looking for strikers and willing to pay for them. We had to borrow money to buy O'Grady but got double back when they sold him.
Peterborough love signing good young forwards and have sold some of them for handsome amounts. A strategy to bear in mind when you consider the number of defenders and midfielders we seem to develop so well.
If hope this transfer comes to fruition, I always thought we should have taken a chance on him when he was released by Fulham.

He wasn't released by Fulham. Southend bought him after he had been on loan there.

Front 3 of Newby, Humphrys and Baah/Rathbone if we keep hold of him

Good to see we've got this over the line. Left back next, Sam Hart anyone?

Just seen this tweet and it illuminates what a sorry mess Southend are in at present. I believe they’re also under a transfer embargo. Pretty much every prediction I’ve seen has them and Oldham dropping into non-league!
