Where's Les? on 13:33 - Aug 31 by Ron11 | Extremism seems to be the issue. There are far right groups, I remember the likes of Nick Griffin etc who were just nazis, no other way to say it. Then I was a member of an engineering union for a few years because it was the only way I could get a job. I had no choice. I worked at BP on the Isle Of Grain in Kent and only because I was forced to join the union or not be allowed to work there. They implemented many restrictive practices which helped to slow down the production process (and with it generation of income for BP and it's so called 'fat cats') but located overtime on a 'those who had been there the longest and/or were staunch union members' basis. What happened to that refinery? It was eventually closed mostly due to restrictive and obstructive action by the union/s. I took this mistrust of unions (many of them were extreme far left) with with me on to other places and jobs. Now I see BLM. Anyone who fails to see that as a far left group hiding behind and using a reasonable cause purely to cause disruption to political progress in this country is blind. Even genuine Socialists seem to defend it no matter what.I have noticed their numbers on the street and also enthusiasm from the FA is falling rapidly as they realise what they might be letting themselves in for. |
I lived in Eastern Europe just after the wall came down, so I know about 6 people behind the counter in a corner shop and none of them wanting to serve you. I also had a girlfriend who’d grown up in East Germany and the USSR, so I think i have a fair idea about that too. I don’t share your views on BLM. I am sure there are far left people in the mix (there always are) but I think it’s bigger than that now. But let’s agree to differ on that, I think we’ve done BLM to death on here. You are right. It is about extremism. But it’s also about tolerance and respecting different points of view. Boris on here as become a crackpot loudmouth. He ‘shouts over’ every alternative point of view and is Invariably abusive, playing the man rather than the ball every time. There’s no need for it. Dune was just the same. TCM was just the same. I find it sinister.

Where's Les? on 10:58 - Aug 31 by Sadoldgit | I get incoming if I just say the sun is shining now I have become a target for some (not just me, anyone who spouts a liberal viewpoint). There is a huge difference between disagreeing with someone’s point of view and explaining why and just basic abuse. On the various forums I visit those with a liberal or left of centre viewpoint seem more likely to engage in discussions whereas those of a more right wing perspective mostly just throw abuse about. The Tommy Robinson school of debating. I suppose it is much easier to call someone a bellend than defend this current government’s record so far 😉. |
It's a FOOTBALL forum you muppet. Get a life and stop spending so much time trying to convince a bunch of strangers on a FOOTBALL forum that your political views are the right ones.

Shouts over every alternative? I couldn't give a f*ck how you live your life mush, you're a noddy on the internet who I am never going to spend any time with ever. I do enjoy making you look stupid though. Where do you respect other peoples opinions? You are calling me 'right wing' because I don't agree with your snowflake opinions on life and politics. Now, are you going to link me to the right wing threads you keep banging on about or not?

'Spoiling the forum' ? Do say how? It's a football forum. Why are you so intent on talking about anything but football Ian? Infact, as you refuse to talk about football, why are you even here? There's plenty of politics forums out there that would fulfil your desire to preach self righteousness. Why are you choosing to do it here?

You are 'right wing'. If you're not, nobody is. I've already explained why and I don't like repeating myself quite like you do. You like making someone look stupid, that's for sure.

You linked a thread where I criticised a right wing government and another where I praised a left wing leader and said I might vote for him next time. You haven't explained anything. Small disclaimer though, I couldn't give a f*ck what you class me as, you're a noddy on an internet forum. I just don't understand why you and others waste your life away pushing political opinions to a bunch of strangers on a football forum?! Can you explain that one?

You don't like being challenged do you? You're registered on a Southampton football forum preaching politics to a bunch of strangers. From what I can see, you don't even like football... I'd be surprised if you've ever been to a game. Perhaps time to join Soppy in reflecting on your life pal? Dinner time for me. Have a good evening. x

I was in a print Union in the 70’s and a representative for one in the 80’s. I have seen the good side and the bad side of strong unions. I don’t agree with closed shops or, to a point, restrictive practices. I have been a manager in the print and a manager in public services. I have seen good sides and bad sides in both. Things go pear shaped very quickly when either side have too much power and choose to excercise that power poorly. Things work better when there is no imbalance of power and people work together for a common cause. I could say the same for government.

You mean that people with opposing views could sometimes respect each other's positions and get along. What a strange idea. It's good job there were no emojis in the 70s and 80s.

Not good. I was at The Times pre Murdoch when the management closed the paper down for 11 months due to union problems. Thank goodness I didn’t go back and missed the fun and games at Wapping.
