Black Lives Matter on football shirts 11:04 - Jun 18 with 22751 viewsDarran

Is there anyone on here that cares so much that they would actually sign a petition against it?

The reason I ask is because I’ve just seen a former poster off here promoting the petition on Twitter.

Seriously how could any human being care enough about to sign it unless they’re a rampant racist?

Who actually gives a fuçk enough?

I watched some of these matches and saw the players taking a knee and my first thought was how proud all the protesters must feel seeing the impact they are having...

... suppose this thread shows that there's still a lot of work to do.

Ok to bring the thread to a conclusion has anyone’s life been affected by having BLM on football shirts this weekend? lol

Me. I never realised before now how much I used the player shirt names to identify the players. Between that and the piped crowd noise drowning out the commentators, I'm thoroughly confused

Maybe think about what he's posted and ask yourself why all but one of BLM's founders have kept their identities secret?

Are they really scared for their lives or are they hiding something?

The truth isn't always easily seen, you have ro scrape below the surface.

"Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.”
― Jonathan Swift

They haven't kept their identities secret. This is them explaining where they were coming from back in 2016:

Well it's obviously very upsetting for the racists on here and across the country.

It's the same people complaining about blm.on shirts.
As the ones complaining about James McLean not wearing a poppy.
Keep anything political off the shirts no argument then

It now appears that they are having second thoughts about what they are supporting.

Sky sports too

I wonder where those calling people racist for expressing the opinion about the movement have gone?

Sky pledged £30m to tackle racism, influenced by the BLM movement. A few pundits taking their badges doesn't change the fact that's a great result.

Organisations are politely distancing themselves as they've realised if they publically support BLM the frothing right will assume they support every extreme subsidiary. This is especially important when controversial events unfold again in Gaza.

The movement has had an incredible impact on the world and brought the serious issues of racism to light once again. The anti-racism campaign will resurface, ideally with better slogans, as sadly racism is still rife irrespective of how many people are in denial.

I'll do a quick summary:

79,000 separate race hate crimes in the UK last year (up 10% from the previous year)
Black people are 10x as likely to be stopped and searched (read the Priyamvada Gopal thread for more detail)
Black kids are 3x as likely to be expelled for the same misbehaviour
Half of all young people imprisoned are BME
Boris "picaninny, watermelon smile, ancestral dislike, letterbox" Johnson
Windrush scandal
Hostile Environment immigration policy
