Where is the 350M a week that the NHS was promised if we left the EU ? 21:54 - Apr 3 with 7477 views | ladyjack | What have the Tories done with the 350M a week that the NHS was apparently going to have for us leaving the EU ?
Where is the 350M a week that the NHS was promised if we left the EU ? on 17:20 - Apr 6 with 599 views | Kerouac | #sigh# Wales gets £1.20 per person to England’s £1. We should therefore see that reflected in the health spend per person... ...but although Wales spends more per person than England we CHOOSE not to spend £1.20per person on health and social care. Instead we spend MORE than £1.20 per person on other areas whilst bleating that our NHS is underfunded and blaming Westminster...capiche? If we made the same choices as England we would see £1.20 per head (or 20% extra per head) across the board in all areas of public spending

Where is the 350M a week that the NHS was promised if we left the EU ? on 17:01 - Apr 6 by ladyjack | Why lie Kerouac ?, you must have looked and known you was wrong after I said where I found my figures from, I guess you then would have checked my figures and looked at the Wales audit figures that you linked to earlier and you must have then seen that Wales spends more than England on both health and education yet you seem unable to say that you made a mistake. I can't understand why you would lie about something like that, other people on this board can see the graphs for themselves, so why try and continue a lie, are you hoping no one else looks or something ?. |
You’re a f*cking idiot.

Where is the 350M a week that the NHS was promised if we left the EU ? on 17:01 - Apr 6 by A_Fans_Dad | How much of it would £15Billion have bought do you think? That is half the Foriegn Aid for the last 3 years. How about another £9Billion a year over the last 3 years, that is the amount of subsidies paid to so called "renewable energy"? You see it is all about priorities, preparing for the future and protecting NHS workers was not a priority until now. I am sure that £42Billion would have helped quite a bit, how about you? |
I am sure that would have made one hell of a difference but would have had major political consequences. Think about it at the dispatch box, on Question Time, during debates...”you say you care about the environment and our children’s future but you’ve halved spending on renewable energy?!?” It would be a political own goal. In reality, what is possible in government is what is politically possible. What is politically possible is down to us, the voters. You would have to be a crazy visionary soothsayer to lead a government that put forward the policies you’re proposing...and the whole time you’d have the Leader of the Opposition goading you that this money you are spending on preparing for a pandemic would be better spent on other problems in the NHS. That’s not what the Asian countries did either. They weren’t prepared for SARS, but going through that gave them a head start on us for COVID-19

One more time. Not for this sh*t for brains but for anyone else struggling to understand. England gets to spend £1 per head of population on public services. Wales gets to spend £1.20. Why? The Barnett formula. (Read more on it if you like) England (ran by those nasty Tories) choose to spend more than £1 per head on health (and thus less than £1 per head on other areas). Wales (ran by those lovely Labour people) choose to spend less than £1.20 per head on health (and thus more than £1.20 per head on other areas). This has been the case ever since devolution. After the financial crash the UK was forced to get a grip on it's public finances in relation to GDP as there was a deficit and our national debt was spiralling out of control as a result of it. As of January this year, 10 years later, our deficit (the difference between the money the state spends and the money we raise in taxes) was still in the red but was around 2% instead of 11%. How did we get to this point? The whole of the UK did something we call 'Austerity' a few cuts here a few cuts there, freeze budgets here while our economy recovered (slowly). On the graphs of public spending the same pattern can be observed for every nation in the UK, we truly did this together, but each nation made their own choices about what to cut and what to freeze. - In England they continued to spend more than £1 per head of population on health and education. They made their cuts elsewhere. - In Wales we continued to spend less than £1.20 per head of population and spent more than £1.20 per head of population on other areas. In Wales we also made cuts to Education, the funding of Secondary Schools. THE LABOUR PARTY MADE THESE CHOICES WHILST PRETENDING THAT THE TORIES WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CUTS IN WALES AND WHILST PRETENDING THAT THE LABOUR PARTY'S PRIORITY IS THE NHS Fact. Trampie put forward an argument by the Nuffield Trust that the Welsh NHS is under funded by £500million a year compared to the NHS in England. The argument goes that the Welsh NHS is in more chronic need because of all the old English folk that have moved here and because of the economic deprivation. If that is the case WHY has Welsh Labour in our Assembly consistently chosen to spend (to prioritise) the money allocated to us on other areas? And why don't we first put that right before demanding increased funds from Westminster? Many Labour supporting posters can be seen on here during this crisis trotting out bullshite about how we are at a disadvantage now because of the austerity inflicted on our NHS by those nasty Tories. In which case ask them to explain why spending on the NHS in England was ringfenced and why Labour has consistently chosen to underfund the NHS in Wales. The f*cking hypocrites.
