I can't see it being on personally.
Even it is on, public transport of any description may be in jeopardy in the Calder Valley which is the route along which I normally travel.
Another Tuesday night rearranged fixture that I won't be able to attend.
Whatever happened to that pristine pitch that we saw for the first time two years ago this weekend........

We need to start giving these pitches names like they have with storms. Its the only way to,figure out how many have been tried and failed.
We must be up to 5 or 6 now in recent history at least.

I think the concern is not as much as the game starting but if the rain comes down as heavy as expected when expected itā€™s the game finishing that may be a problem?

A bit harsh to say ā€˜Anotherā€™, as though there have been loads.

Ipswich was due to their international call-ups and Wimbledon is because we were playing Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Tomorrow is arguably the only one we can have some responsibility for.

There also seems to be a few Dale fans from that area on here. Perhaps a car share could be organised.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Perhaps I should have qualified my remark about ā€œanother Tuesdayā€.
I meant in addition to the games mentioned above those midweek matches originally scheduled eg Sunderland and MK Dons.
I actually got to the former but only because it was August and I was on holiday.

That one, apparently, was laid wrongly.

They way I heard was the football club were given two options when the pitch was being " sorted out " again a year or two back. There was the pretty expensive treatment but low maintenance option and a cheaper treatment that demanded a lot of attention from the groundsman.
Not un naturally the club chose the cheap option but the groundsman wasn't too happy about the extra workload and consequently did just enough to keep things ticking over.
That was told to me by somebody who knows about these issues.

Thanks for the update. Nice and dry in Geordieland right now but I guess I should plan an alternative Saturday than the drive to Spotland

the guidelines seem pretty simple, whenever the pitch becomes unplayable itā€™s off.. can be at any part of the game even..

So a preemptive match postponement is not allowed?
