To be clear, this acquittal doesn't exonerate the President, it only exposes the depths that his accomplices in Congress will endeavor to cover-up his crimes. It won't be easy to repair the damage done by this President & Congressional GOP, but it can & will be done. (5/5)
It's remarkable that a President can refuse to shake the hands of the speaker who then tears up a copy of his State of the Union address and there is not much media reaction.

The speaker of the house of representatives is all selected by the largest party. Constitutionally they are partisan owing allegiance to their own party unlike the house of commons speaker who is supposed to remain neutral at all times.
Given that the Democrats instigated impeachment proceedings against the President I can see no reason why he should shake her hand. Although her behaviour in ripping his speech does show her hatred for the president.
Probably a bit like Corbyn's childish actions in refusing to speak or acknowledge the Prime Minister at the state opening of parliament following the election result.

They’re all as bloody bad as each other. Trump’s position as Manbaby-in-chief is not under dispute but the rest of them seem to be overtly rivalling his pathological childishness.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Anyway he’s been found not guilty, democrats are getting really desperate.
I see already democrats are saying he is guilty despite the verdict a bit like Corbyn and the rest of his loonies still claiming they won the last election.
It must be the new thing in politics to just pretend you won and do not actually accept the result .

To be fair, the Republican minority leader said before proceedings started that they would follow the lead of the White House, admitting that evidence didn't matter, they would be voting to exonerate him. If a juror in a normal trial said that, they would be replaced.
I'm not saying he deserved to be thrown out of office, but it's a bit difficult to say he's innocent when over half the 'jury' have decided before hearing any evidence (not to mention refusing to call Bolton, who was an actual eyewitness to the events being debated).
This situation is in no way comparable to Brexit.
You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

If Trump is so bad , why do people still want to keep him in power?
....because as in this country, the elite has appealed to the lowest common denominator -racists and thickos. The internet has empowered stupid people.
