the ex Glamorgan cricketer famous for the Sobers six sixes in an over achievement has passed away. Lovely guy Mal, I met him some years ago when I was chairing a quiz in Port Talbots Forge Tavern. He was then on the committee for the NSPCC, he was there to accept the money we had collected for his cause. A true gentleman and no mean cricketer either. Lost count of how many times he'd get a lbw first over at St.Helens. RIP Mal, it was a pleasure to know you.
Was on the verge of an England cap for a while. Absolutely unplayable at times.
Agreed Phil. At his best when conditions were humid and he got the ball to move. Only medium pace but could be lethal with the new ball. I remember against Middlesex around 1969 first innings he had them 10-3 including Parfitt out for a duck until the sun broke through the clouds and they went on to make 400.

Happy days, Nige.
No bugger in the beer tent when Mal or Tony Cordle were batting either...
Excellent cricketer and really nice bloke. Always had a chat with him particularly after he retired and was an insurance salesman in Alexandra House. We always had a chat around the station.
