Setting off on the boat tonight and arrive in Gotland, Sweden on Thursday afternoon. Getting excited /nervous now and hopefully after all the hard work and expense we can so ourselves justice. We're the 12th most populated island out of the 16 football teams competing so our immediate aim will be a finish of 9-12th meaning we need to finish 3rd in our group and then we play a placing game after that, if we can sneak a draw against Minorca then we could have a chance of 2nd and a finish of 5th to 8th but realistically that will be a very tall order! Wish us luck and there may be live streaming of the games on the BBC Radio Orkney Facebook page if there is a good enough signal at the venues. If we win you can be sure I'll keep you updated!! http://islandgames2017results.com/competitor.aspx?RegID=39030
50th anniversary of two giantkillings, both at Wembley! And me 50 atm, has to be an omen.....
I struggled to think of the second giantkilling to start with as Skelmersdale only drew with Enfield. Then I remembered Scotland became World champions!

Anyone remember who won the qualifying group?

Got it in one Terry! Same as these days we never worried about qualifying haha
Hope it goes well - I'll see you in Orkney on your return and hopefully have something to celebrate, actually i'll buy you a drink, whatever the outcome!

Best of luck Karl I'm sure it will be a great experience See the official games link.. Gotland looks a beautiful place with brilliant facilities Puts my area to shame for sporting facilities
have you chartered a ferry or is it one of your firms fishing boats ??

Yeah it looks terrific and should be a great experience. My op looks like we're sailing to Sweden but we're going down to Aberdeen tonight and flying on a charter plane from there, I'm far too fragile on a boat for that distance!
Thanks for everyone's good wishes, all this support for a branch of Scottish football!
That's another tough looking fixture list. First game away to Menorca and last game against Jersey with Alderney sandwiched inbetween.
Good Luck with that!
Why aren't the Isle of Man taking part?!
They're in Group D Fred, along with Anglesea and a couple of smaller islands. Ours is tough but tbh whichever group we ended up in we'd have a struggle to finish 2nd. A great start would be a draw v Menorca and a win v Alderney, that would set us up for a potential winner takes all v Jersey. Our only game to date was a 12-0 loss so all to play for!!
Good luck Karl, smash those Menorcan bastards for me. Got a few days there next week so could do without their locals partying in to the small hours of the morning celebrating winning their cup final against the Brazil of the north
Much success Karl. Orkney expects; do not let us down!!
That said, if you're not going to win, then any chance we could make some 'arrangements''? How about we agree a player and the time you'll substitute him, and we'll also stick a tenner on for you and the boys?
We could all clean up here.
