How crazy is it that Everton are prepared to pay out £ 11 million for Ademola Lookman, a teenage left winger and First Division player with only 45 appearances and 19 goals for Charlton? Yet Hammers and others seem reluctant to part with £ 10 million + for Hogan. Brentford have advised Newcastle the asking price is £ 15 million.

To be fair, Lookman is a 19 year old England youth international, whereas Hogan is now 24. I think the potential for growth with Lookman is pretty huge, he's seen as a potential future star at the top end of the Premier League whereas West Ham is probably as high as Hogan is going to go.

Hogan has suffered terrible injuries for 2014/15 and most of 2015/16 and Lookman has not. Whoever is paying for Hogan will factor that into the price and it looks like hovering around the £8 - 10m mark and I would be surprised if someone was going to pay in excess of that for a player that had a good end to 15/16 and a very good first half of this season. If he stays and has a very good 16/17 injury free then his price should increase.

Demba Ba would guarantee you 20 goals in the prem but never got sold for more then £7.5m due to knee injuries.

We should also not forget that he's classed as HG player as he's english and that should also put his value up as a lot of premier league squads struggle to meet the domestic HG rules.

how is anthony elding still in league one?

They'll be hoping to get both and move Zaza and Fletcher out.

I think they would take that amount - if they didn't have to give us any percentage. If anyone bids £12-13 million I reckon they'll let him go.

Zaza is supposed to be going back to Italy on loan and Sunderland have turned down a bid for Defoe. One of the Hammers other targets Shane Long is on the Baggie's wish list.

It will be interesting to see if Hogan plays for Brentford against Eastleigh in the FA Cup on Saturday although Brentford might use the excuse he is being rested rather than being cup tied.

With Premier League clubs running 25 man squads which on the whole are full, Hogan watch will take some time. They’ll be a knock on effect somewhere.

West Ham - player x leaves for Italy, freeing up for Hogan - Bees spend on player y etc
West Brom - berahino (out of favour leaves) - freeing up space - Bees spend on player y etc
Villa - Just got rid of Getade (although squad numbers don’t matter in the Champ)

I reckon if anything happens it’ll be later in the month, interesting times.

Has he stopped playing cricket for Milnrow?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
