Holloway hanging by a thread...? 15:42 - Dec 10 with 29155 viewscoolranger

Regardless of the result today at relegation doomed Rotherham (who have not won in 14, always a good time to play QPR), I think I'm watching Holloway on the very edge.

I watched perhaps half a dozen of Holloway interviews over the last month or so. What I see and hear is an endless rambling about 'passion', 'dying for the club' and 'transforming the culture'.

The England FA rant about 'who are ya, I mean who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, who are you, - I mean c'mon on. What on earth was all that about?

Nothing personal against Holloway. He did great last time for us, and remains popular. I just find him far far too desperate, almost incoherent in his enthusiasm.

I reckon we'll lose or perhaps draw today at Rotherham. Then what? His appointment almost smacks of 'we've tried everything else, and that hasn't worked, let's go back to an old friend who knows the club and try him...'.

Just feel increasingly uneasy that this latest experiment may end in tears.

Help me out here I would love to be as optimistic as you about Holloway

I;m not otimistic, love the bloke, my first comment today on the match fred was questioning the meaning of enthusiasm,,,,

However, calling for a managers head four games in is beyond clinically brain dead and an utter disgrace.

That is all.

I actually have some sympathy with the view that the club PR machine has been laying on the "many passion, such honest" shtick a bit heavily, and that it will / does start to look a bit daft when results aren't going the right way.

But -- to talk about him "hanging by a thread" already is crazy, and unhelpful at best. It's this kind of hysteria and short-termism that makes the club look like a basket-case.

In all seriousness, seeing an angry mob hound Holloway out is going to be the last straw for some people I reckon.

And if Holloway does royally fck this up, I really don't know where the club goes next, especially if that's in the division below. So let's try getting behind him, at least for a few more games for christ's sake. I know it's a message board and this kind of thing comes with the territory, but can we at least give it another couple of games before clamouring for the next guy's head?

Couldn't agree more.

Remember that PNE game I'm often accused of banging on about? Ollie was manager then too. And we were in free fall 7 losses I think, but we had characters then, Ainsworth, Blackstock, NyGaard, Bircham, played with everything we had and it was coming to nothing. 12,000 at home turned into the 12th man, did not turn on players or Ollie, and we won 1-0 and turned our season around right there and then that night.

There's only one sane thing to do, get behind Ollie and the players if we are not to be relegated this season. Simple as that.

Those who went today have every right to complain, the rest of us dont.

But it is not simply four results if it was I would agree with you it is how those games played out. The one win had us hanging on in the last 10 minutes against a team who had played with 10 men for the last 80. Maybe the last 10 minutes against Wolves but otherwise when in the three defeats did we looked like we might get something.

Jesus guys. It's not just the results.

I hope he keeps us up. Just saying it seems to me a desperate low cost gamble to buy time. Do we even have a four year plan any more?

Don't really know where this club is heading anymore. Does anyone?

The problem is we've gone from one extreme to the other, from overpaying and buying names, to paying 8k a week maximum wages and buying unproven, lower championship, the relegated or lower league.

We need balance, the way Ollie plays he needs a playmaker in CM we let our proven one go in the summer. We need goals even on paper there is no goals in this team and it may take sacrificing Chery to deliver them. We need experience at this level and leadership

I'm a little perturbed how Sylla has been sidelined, he clearly is the best striker in the club and barely had a look in since Ollie came in.

I also suspect that Ollie needs a No man next to him in the dugout someone to challenge.

Something else that people need to remember before they get on Holloway's back (after 4 games ffs!!) is that after JFH got the boot the list of replacements was hardly inspiring, it almost felt as if we'd have actually been better off sticking with him for the season because the options were that bad. The alternatives won't be any better than they were a month ago, in fact it'll be worse because who in their right mind would want to join us at the moment.

Revolutionary idea but how about we give the manager some time and actually get behind the team. If it's still like this after say a dozen games then fair enough, but not after 4 games.

I have to agree that this is most of the problem - we've been sold pups by the owners since the year dot.

The Mafia Pizza waiter / F1 / Airline owners cannot manage expectations because they ramp them up into Fantasy Island stuff every time. Probably proves that the businesses they made their money out of are moonshine.

The Wizard Of Oz is about the only charlatan that hasn't had go at running QPR yet.

Or the Orange Trump.

The bottom line is that we have to trust in Ollie to get us out of this crap. There is no alternative.

If TF panics again, I despair. Money can't buy you love. Or the soul of QPR.

Quite honestly I would accept relegation now if it guaranteed Coolranger would stop whinging

Results are poor but its been 4 games, due to work i had to miss the game and only able to listen to the first half but we attacked from the start and could easily have been 2 up in the first 4 minutes, an apparently excellent save from a washington strike followed by a goal line clearance minutes later, if either of those chances had gone it we would probably have gone on to win the game

we had 66% possession according to the BBC. Holloway cant turn goal shy strikers into Don Givens and Clive Allen overnight. He has a shit load of work to do, If we cant give him until the end of the season at least then we might as well give it all up and go ten pin bowling on a saturday instead

Holloway didn't need to turn goal shy forwards into whatever over night we were not that bad. He was brought in to do a job and at the moment has failed. You can make all the excuses for him you like but judged against the previous manager he is not doing as well.

Agreed. The passion bit with Olly does get a little bit overplayed at times, however this is a silly and pointless thread.

There is a lot for olly to do, but he has had four games with a team that he has inherited. I think this season is another one that we have to write off and hope we can galvanise sufficiently that we don't get dragged into a relegation battle.
