He's such a simple cúnt, he truly is. Both goals mainly down to him. But of course he'll keep his place in the team and be handed captaincy, again, at the expense of Henry

Barton seemed to think it was funny to elbow an opponent in a dangerous position thus allowing them to score their second goal from the resulting free kick. This was after he was to blame for their first goal. Still he must be well pleased the evertonian c unt.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I am not going to defend Barton as he was real bad today. However, his real problem is that he thinks he can attack when in fact, as has been pointed out before, his best position is just in front of the defenders.. and stay there. How many times was he caught upfield when he should have been back.

Barton has been bad last couple of games, particularly poor tonight. But to be calling for Henry!?!?!?!
Fer and Mutch aren't exactly helping I actually think Fer is hiding. He is so detached from play at times that can be the only excuse
I'm not his biggest fan but Henry has played reasonably well this season and did not deserve to be dropped for the people's champion. Quite why Joey was awarded the armband is beyond me.

Would prefer Henry to Barton any day, but Austin's challenge to pick up his second yellow was similar to Barton's that led to their second, and I don't see anyone calling him out tonight.

Brian thats probably because Austin had assisted and scored our other goal in that game. Besides that he's scored nearly all our goals this season where Barton has been average to dreadful recently. Also Barton is an easy fella to dislike.

I'll have to see it again, but for the first goal it looked like Fer surprised him with the back heel and he wasn't properly composed when he tried to play it through for him. He just doesn't seem to keep it well in those tight situations.
Then he thought he was being clever and disguising that elbow to Naismith's head.
He's just neither one thing nor the other as a player, not unless he's really on top form. Henry gets it and gives it, covers other players forward runs etc. Barton is convinced he has so much more to his game and it's just causing problems at the moment.

Ya, I agree with you, tbh, Chubbs. I wouldn't have him in the team at the moment, but this thread is more about disliking Barton, it seems to me...

Bartons first pass, his very first pass of the entire game he played an outside of the foot pass inside straight to an Everton player. From there he gave away possession consistently and his 2 mistakes for the first and unnecessary elbow for the 2nd cost us. Another thing with Austin in comparison to this is that Charlie led with his arm, it wasn't malicious (his first red card) and importantly it wasn't 25 yards from our own fckin goal when one of the best set piece takers in the league is playing for the opposition.
He's a liability in the midfield, ESPECIALLY when he is supposed to play as the deep lying anchor, he hasn't got the discipline or passing ability to do it. He sees himself as this ball playing all action central midfielder but he's not a specialist of anything and actually bang average. If he simplified all aspects of his game and stripped it down to being busy, getting in passing channels and playing simple passes he might be a good team contributor, but his ego would never allow it. Henry was the natural choice as a holding midfielder with 2 more attacking players ahead but Harry would never leave out captain Barton people's champion so he plays and contributes directly to our demise. I'm sick of him.

That's a very good analysis of his play, Simmo. When we all played football underage, every team had a player like that whose ego was far bigger than his talent. He was soon copped by his team-mates and manager, though, and he either changed his play or changed teams. Barton's no kid, and shouldn't need telling.

Barton was actually very good when we were down to ten men against Burnley: rushing around, harrying, blocking, disrupting, working hard. That's his game. Where in earth he's got this idea that he's a ball playing midfielder from I do not know. Gave the ball away inside 45 seconds tonight and continued on that course for the next 90. Clearly believes he'd be in the England team without his poor behaviour. In actual fact, if he was Joe Bloggs, he wouldn't even get in the Fleetwood team playing like this. Liability.

Most passes by far on the team, 85% completion rate overall, most tackles, most interceptions...even 3 out of 7 'hollywood' balls came off.
But people see what they want to I guess.
Not especially a fan of his, just pointing out the facts.
However the manner in which he gave the ball away for the first goal and, in particular, the stupidity of the foul for the second is inexcusable.
Stats lie I'm afraid and provide lazy arguments. I hear it in cricket all the time. Cooks overall stats look ok but he's the most appalling England captain and player we have right now, and everyone and his mum can see it. I prefer to base judgement on what I actually observe.
Barton makes crucial mistakes at crucial times. The whole team were playing well until he inexplicably gave the ball away by trying to be clever (yet again), trying to do something beyond his abilities. As Barkley grabbed the initiative I just knew they were going to score from that error. Barton had presented his first Scouse Xmas present of the night and that was that. But for good measure he thought he'd make absolutely sure with his next crucial error. Thanks C*nt.
