Dan Seaborne looks set to go out on loan with first team opportunities limited at St Mary's

It doesnt take a qualified UEFA Coach to recognise that Dan Seaborne hasnt had much game time as of late, indeed with only two appearances in the Capital One Cup to his name this season its now been over a year since he has played League football for Saints.

Of course thats been in the main due to his horrific injuries suffered in a nightclub incident, but the writing was already on the wall for him before that, he struggled to get a game in League 1, starting only 10 games in our promotion season from that division, would definately have struggled in the Championship to get much more game time and to be blunt isnt a Premiership quality central defender.

his being the case its likely that Saints will look to move him out on loan to clear the decks for another centre half to come in during the January transfer window.

Clubs that have been rumoured to be showing an interest in him, include Nottingham Forest who are fast becoming a home for ex Saints players and Millwall and regular football would of course be an attraction for Seaborne.

Only stumbling block could be the fact that it would leave Saints short in the central defensive department with only Fonte,Hooiveld and Yoshida dedicated centre backs, however both Fox and Richardson could do stand in jobs if required so that may persuade Saints to let the ex Exeter man out on loan.

Certainly Seaborne would be an attractive loan signing in that he can also play at full back if required, hence the interest from Championship clubs.

slynch added 13:51 - Sep 27 I'm confused! In my day a centre half was a midfielder. Now it appears they are defenders. If so what is a centre back? I have seen this confusion elswhere too, anyone any clue?

legod7 added 13:57 - Sep 27 If he does got out on loan perhaps he will get some game time. Unlike Aaron Martin who cannot even get on the bench at Palace. Seems a waste of a loan.

smiffdub added 16:57 - Sep 27 I know he's injured at the moment, but Cork makes a pretty handy CB in my view--at least he was when he was on loan to us. I'm surprised that he hasn't been used there recently.

ExiledSupporter added 14:21 - Sep 28 I think Cork's utility might give him time as a full back, an all purpose midfielder and a central defender (if we are really pressed) He seems to me to be a really valuable squad player and a certainty on the bench for every match, often starting as the injury list inevitably mounts as the season progresses. I'm afraid all the centrehalves that I can recall, back to the late sixties were defenders, perhaps only Jimmy Gabriel's role was "ambiguous"
