Mostly not, but on the only viewing I've seen, I did think there was suspicion their keeper got a hand to the ball when he came out of the box second half. However, not much of an appeal from the U's players, so probably not? |

Second half I think we deserved that, but I was losing hope it would happen. Phew - no point papering over cracks, but that was a massive point! |

Positives: Barrow are poor. Negatives: They're still better than us at the moment. |

Can’t really add much to what has already been said. A poor game between two poor sides brought to life by an excellent finish from Anderson. I honestly thought we’d hold on and nick it, but calamitous defending put paid to that. On balance though, the right result. So Holloway gets his new manager bounce, but I doubt he liked what he saw. Special mention for our 332 supporters, great turn out in an otherwise poor crowd, and we definitely didn’t like what we saw. |

Well done Tamworth, excellent result. I haven't seen the game to compare, but back in the day Dave Challinor of Tranmere had a pretty hefty long throw. |

Matt Jay was instrumental in us getting a deserved draw at the County Ground last season, so let's hope he takes the opportunity to do even better this time around. I would love for us to finally get the quality out of Matt Jay that we all know he has - here's hoping! |

Before the season started I was hopeful of at least challenging for a play-off slot/ upper mid table. 10 minutes into AFCW I thought automatic promotion. A dozen or so games later I'll take 18th and a marginal improvement on last season if necessary. Most of us can probably remember the gradual, incremental, snail-like progress when we returned back to the football league, and we certainly all know where eventually that lead. I'll take more of the same right now, and if nothing else, Saturday is at least a free shot to show the spirit we're going to need to achieve it. |

There were a host of different managers that season. League games and goals conceded as follows: Tony Humes (19 games and 44 goals) Richard Hall (1 and 5) Wayne Brown (2 and 6) Kevin Keen (22 and 40) David Wright (1 and 2) Steve Ball (1 and 2) |

Just to clarify, I was very careful to state my comparison with last seasons squad was the post-summer sale version, once we'd cashed in Chilvers, Bradley, Mingi and Fevs. ...and yes, relegation would be a disaster, but we've been circling the drain for four seasons now - something has to give. |

Certainly enough to form an opinion, not enough to make a decision. The bulk of those games were last season, with a squad they largely inherited, and whose confidence was shot. They had one brief, avoid relegation - and although it was closer than any of us would have liked, they did it. In the summer they lost the cream of the young talent and had to set about completely rebuilding the squad. I would argue that the bulk of our squad now is collectively better than that which was left post-summer sales. Their appointment has also had a huge positive effect on the fanbase too, and galvanised the U's support, particularly with the BWA (though to be fair they were already working hard on that pre-Cowley). This season though has so far failed to deliver, and it's safe to to say that the team has yet to gel is a massive understatement. Some stunning individual matches, but interspersed with some really dreadful ones. Ten minutes in at AFC Wimbledon we all thought HMS Piss the League was already halfway out of the harbour, only for reality (and some awful decisions from officials) to drop the anchor on that idea. Regarding the latter, I know we're not the only ones, and most would agree that these things usually balance out over a season, but Lady Luck seems to have left the building right now. How many apology letters are we up to right now? Injuries too, and yes we're not unique in this position by any stretch, seem to be hitting us hard in key positions almost on a weekly basis. As was said above, if this was another management team and Robbie decided enough was enough, we'd all be screaming to get the Cowleys in. Well, we've got them, and whilst some might say be careful what you wish for, we have to give them time to sort this malaise out. This isn't just a Cowley issue, this is a rot that has set into our club ever since John McGreal sneaked us into the play-offs thanks to Covid. I stand by what I said, if we're still in this predicament (or worse) at Christmas Robbie has a difficult decision to make, give the Cowleys the January transfer window to turn things around, or get shot and give someone else that chance. I personally hope he backs his not insubstantial investment and sticks with them, whatever may come. And if it takes a drop into the National league to finally turn around this mentality, then so be it - there, I've said it. I also want to retract my comment about Oscar Thorn's substitution on Saturday. Back then I was still wearing my brown-tinted spectacles, but on sober (literal and metaphorical) reflection, that was the right call. Whether Salford had recognised and nullified his threat, or his young legs had gone, he wasn't as effective second half, and it was probably the right call to replace him. He's still a huge talent though. So we go again on Saturday, back where it all began for the Cowleys. I'm looking forward to it, and whether we win or lose, it's the reaction on and off the pitch I'll be looking for. Up the U's! |

Dreadful - no system at all, just hoof and hope. Individually and collectively we should be better than this, and I fear the clock might be ticking on the Cowley experience. Robbie isn't going to finance this level of expenditure to see the U's still battling against relegation. There's still a long way to go, but if we're in the same predicament come December there's going to be changes. ...and why the f'ck would they take Thorn off? |

I know what you mean about travelling Durham, next Saturday at Swindon will be only my second awayday of the season. But in truth, apart from at AFC Wimbledon, there haven't really been many (any) opportunities to get on the road in this League 2 (North) campaign. I would have gone to Walsall, but the 1230 start put paid to that unfortunately. |
