Not posted for a while but had an idea I'd like to debate with everyone. It seems that in recent years the club shop have had their hands tied with regards to selling independent merchandise i.e. not emblazoned with carbrini, Fila, errea etc.
from memory the club used to sell items such as cargo shorts with a badge on, simple polo tops with small crest, cotton T-shirts, navy blue jackets with dale across the front. but all these items seem to have disappeared in favour of the sponsored gear. Does anyone know if we are tied in to deal where we are unable to produce our own merchandise?
If we are able to produce our own merchandise, Seeing as we have a new marketing manager on board now would be a good time to flood her with ideas of things we would like to purchase from our club shop.
Please feel free to add ideas of things you would be likely to purchase. I'll kick the list off with things I wouldn't mind seeing.
. Plain polo T-shirts with club crest . Cargo shorts with club crest . Rafc beach towels . Rafc flip flops . Rubber phone cases with fixtures printed on the back . Hard plastic phone cases . Rafc slippers
I'm going to go all rkershaw here but I had an idea for a new chant, it's taken from kings of rugby by Wigan warriors fans:
We are the boys Still standing tall We're kings of league 2 and were never going to stop This is for you RAFC! And we will follow you where ever you may be
I heard tonight from a Burnley supporting lad in the pub that we are favourites to sign Brian Jensen following his release.
I was pretty sceptical but he said that's the rumour.
Personally I'd think it unlikely unless Collis hasn't agreed terms or he's looking to move in to coaching, which would suggest the German feller could be on his way out. Also wages could be a stumbling block.
Would you be happy with the beast pushing Lillis for the gloves next season?
After seeing those Wycombe fans in there today, it made me feel the surely the time has now come to let Dale fans in there, there must av been about 20 of them singing but it sounded like there was 200 of em singing. That stand has by far the best acoustics in the ground, if we can get 1000 dalefans in there we could generate a savage atmosphere and hopefully the players would respond to that.
I know that there are going to be some issues such as do you put away fans in the sandy or split the west Rose. You could put it to a vote and let the fans decide what they would like to do because in my oppinion that is the best stand in the ground best view and best acoustics.
Just seen on sky sports news that scott mcgleish has been released by orient, he might be knocking on a bit (footballer wise) but he would still be good for 10-15 goals a season, hes a clever player, could he be a good partner for ogrady?
Yesterday was a very tired performance, some of the players looked absolutly shattered. We seem to have a good youth system developing bringing through some good prospects. Seeming as we have a small squad maybe it could be a time to give some 1st teamers a rest and give a couple of youngsters a chance, see how they do. Weve got helio andre and callum byrne who have had 1st team experience so it wouldnt be throwing them in at the deep end. And also it will be better for thier development coming in to a team which is doing well instead of a struggling 1. Whats everyone elses thoughts?
Whats happened to that notts county fan who said he would go to the deedpoll and change his name to keith hill if rochdale finished above county this season.
When fon williams first came i thought he looked a decent prospect, i still think that hes a fantastic shot stopper but other areas of his game concern me a bit which makes me think is he a long term option? Iv always thought that hes a bit dodgey coming for crosses and commanding his area, and the fact he seems to love to punch the ball away, and more recently he seems to be getting caught in no mans land a lot. I know its a bit knee jerk but i dont see why we cant give edwards a go, both keepers are around the same age, and when he came on against oldham he didnt have a rite lot to do but he looked competent and comfortable. Whats every body elses opinion on him?
Does the score board still work? Not that it affects me a right lot standing behind it and all but i think its a bit tin pot that a team in league 1 doesnt have a working scoreboard. If its broken are there any plans to fix it? Or does it cost too much money? In which case could the club not sell advertising space on it? I know its pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things but was just wondering
Does anybody know if the game is still on? Because i havent heard anything like pitch inspections due, and the club website doesnt show anything, so is it a case of no news is good news and the game goes ahead? Sky sports says robbie williams is due to make his debut, did widdowson get a knock on saturday?
There is an interesting article on the bbc football website which discusses the proposed move in to the olympic stadium from either tottenham or west ham, the main point of the article is by the leyton orient chairman who believes that if tottenham or westham do move in to the olympic stadium then it will mean that orients attendances will drop, which he believes will eventually kill the club. the olympic stadium is 3 miles away from brisbane road, both teams offer incentives that orient cant match, west ham proposes to offer cheap tickets in an attempt to fill the 60000 seater stadium and tottenham offers champoins league football at the moment, both of which mean that casual fans who may watch orient decide to watch a higher standard. It sounds to me like hes scared of having 1 of the big boys as a neighbour, saying that how does he think we feel being situated in the extremly congested area of the north west, and being in manchester with both the big teams doing well. We have survived for years and will continue to so why wont orient?
exeter are on sky now and the kit they are wearing looks quite nice, and seeming as were stuck with crapini for next seasons kit id quite like to see us have this template but with a blue stripe instead of red and obviously dale badge and our own sponsor. could be a 3rd away kit if we keep the black one what does everyone think
thought that when that smith gathered the ball an started running with it (after we tried to put it out of play so our downed player could recieve treatment) was the worst display of sportsmanship ive seen , he was an absolute disgrace. I hope his manager gave him some stick because theres no place for that in the game today. Overall good point game could have gone either way in the unpredictable conditions. Up the dale
Sky sports news reports that peterborough want darren ferguson back as thier manager. Thats quite rich seeming as they treated him poorly with his dismissal, i dont particulary like the guy but he did get a rough deal, gets them consecutive promotions then gets fired off. Mind you this is a sky sports news report and we all know that they aint exactly on the money all the time
