Just Back...
at 18:45 26 Dec 2024

Well, erm, in no particular order.

1. Chair looked energetic when he came on.

2. If we'd scored in that little spell at the start of the second half, well..it would have been better.

3. Paul Smyth was industrious.

4. I felt like we tried after halftime.

Nice to see a match in the company of enthusiastic RRs fans! A treat for me even with the result. Hope everyone gets home safely - there was a lot of fog when we left Swansea.

Missed Out on Tickets for Boxing Day!
at 20:56 24 Dec 2024

And to my local game as well! Christmas preparations and dashing about. If anyone suddenly can't travel then me and my boy would definitely take a couple of tickets going spare.. not even sure how or if that could work.

Silly me.

Merry Christmas all U RRRs! (Nadolig llawen down this way.)

It's about me, not about you.
at 08:57 25 Oct 2023

My attempt at a trial separation from thinking about QPR has been a qualified success. The problem is that a trial separation means I keep getting stories on my newsfeeds and seeing things on the couple of social media I use, keeping looking at the QPR garden gnome on my kitchen windowsill, and keep thinking about coming to London to go to a game with my lad, and so on.
So, it's got to be complete. Stopping following all accounts, kicking off everything that might bring QPR onto my news feeds. Just been onto the bank and stopped my QPR+ payment... unfollowed LFW on X. The gnome and my scarves are going somewhere dark and forgotten.

I wanted to come and say goodbye to you all because this site has been - what a thing to say about a web forum - an important part of my life for years. There are so many fascinating and bright people on here, and the non-football discussions have been great.

Anyway, done for now. Maybe for good. I don't know how so many of you who spend more money and emotional energy on QPR carry on. After 50 years, I'm finished.

Got to add yet another nod to Clive's writing, of course. The best football writing ever. Sorry/happy I was always too broke and never subscribed to the Patreon.

QPR Gnome!
at 11:23 7 May 2023

My birthday today.... yes, yes, thank you, don't all rush at once, there's enough cake for everyone. Anyway, someone has given me a QPR garden gnome from the club shop.... no name on the paperwork. You could say it was given a-gnome-ynously...

Who knew the club sold gnomes? He's carrying a bit of extra timber, might do a job for us up front next season. White beard.... senior squad player.

Easter Miracle at the Hawthorns/Gutless Capitulation Match Thread

Somebody has to do this, and I'd like to take this opportunity to salute all the travelling Rs during this crazy season.
We're going to lose on Monday, and numbers of goals don't matter. Here's to a sunny day in August by which time let's hope somebody has swept up and put the rubbish out at Loftus Road.

Realistic scenario for change...
at 09:46 8 Apr 2023

There's a lot of talk about change, a reset maybe, but are there any realistic scenarios in which we have a change of ownership and that doesn't just mean go straight to AFC QPR, do not pass go, do not collect £..... etc?
I only wonder this because isn't one of the deep seated obstacles to QPR's progress that the borough doesn't like the owners? Also, what, at this stage are the owners getting out of this? It can't be fun can it?

First time I've heard him speak. Where is the lad from? Sounds a little Australian on occasion.

I'm not endorsing the views in this video, in all honesty, rich boy trader isn't very radical, but this is definitely worth a watch.

Apropos nothing really....
at 14:40 4 Oct 2021

I just phoned up to buy some reclaimed pallets for a little low impact building project and ended up having a long chat with an ex-chairman of Cambridge Utd! He volunteered that he was the one who took them out of the League and into administration. Apparently he is still allowed back and sees the odd game.

Talked football finance for a bit. He came from Brentford originally. Anyway, there we are, all from a phone call to a recycling company.

Scottish people or Scotland dwellers... Question
at 08:47 18 Jul 2021

I met a big Scottish guy yesterday - his size is not really relevant - and asked him his name. He said "people call me Y-i-d." I was a little bit taken aback and not wanting to just look dumbstruck, said "Like a Spurs fan?" He didn't get the reference but told me that his name is "short for Hamish". Was he winding me up, is this a thing, or is he uniquely blessed with a name which is also considered hateful and unacceptable by lots of people these days?

Hard working young man seeks employment!
at 16:51 8 Mar 2021

My son is up in London studying at SOAS and living in a hall of residence near Kings Cross. He phoned today to say he won't be coming home for long at Easter because he wants to get himself some work, and, by the way, if I could think of anyone I know in London who might have some work going could I ask?

Well, I've messaged the few people I still know in London, but I thought I might as well make a shout out here too. My boy is 19, hard working and quite experienced for a man of his age. He's fluent in French and can hopefully order a Chinese takeaway in Chinese by now! More importantly of course, he's been dragged to many QPR games over the years and was at Wembley with his dad for the Play Off Final, so he's an R.... although table football is more his thing these days.

Anyway, if anyone can think of anything by way of work, part-time I presume, in these difficult times, for a young man such as he, msg me please.

See what Cardiff have done with 3 straight wins? Amazing division with a very fat mediocre middle, but we were only a point behind them 5 minutes ago.
