New Match of the Day Presenters...
at 16:40 15 Jan 2025

1. Get rid of the ex-pro co-commentator. Rarely are they insightful and frequently merely describe what you've either already seen or, seeing on a replay.

2. When they all went on strike a year or so ago, just showing the actual highlights was enough for me. Maybe some voicing, but none of the customary pony from the pundits in the studio.

3. Commentators and their propensity to deliver innane facts. Its as if: we've done all this homework and want to use it.

As for these three: Yorath is very good as an anchor. In fact, if MOTD/football could be delivered as well as the BBC delivers athletics, we'd be more enlightened without all the blah, blah, blah!

I have to say that when I was of the manor, 'The Constitution' where the original Pimilico R and myself imbibed, had the most miserable bar staff imaginable. Across the road is 'Grumbles' I doubt the menu has changed since I was there in 2005, why should it, it hadn't changed in the previous 30 years. Many a time I wandered over after a few!

There was another great pub in the area and I think it's name was 'The Old House At Home' or something like that. When I arrived it had just reopened after a load of Hoorays had bought and undertaken a refurb. A mate had come down to visit as it had been her local at one time and oh, my what a let down. There they were, three Henrys standing around watching one of them pull a pint, which had more head on it than Don King and when they put it on the bar, they did so with a look of satisfaction that they'd done something greater than crack the Da Vinci code. Never returned.

Good pubs down there, suspect their mostly gastros now though. Enjoy.

Leek polishing more like! But yeah, I could see impetus for this coming from what's left of La-La land.

Remember when we traveled down there for the 2003 POF and were told, that while the Welsh national anthem was necessary, the playing of GSTQ would anger the locals or some such tosh! Not that I give a flying rat's backside about national anthems, it shows their football mentality in a somewhat petulant light in my humble.

Of course, what would stir it up would be if the English FA said: you can play in your country's cup competitions, but either not in ours or, English clubs should be invited as well. Now of course, UEFA would be very irate at Welsh and maybe English clubs getting two goes at having their Welsh cake (delicious as they are) and wanting to eat it, but anyone know what their take is on this?

I'm sure many Welsh teams actually playing in the Welsh football set-up are not too happy either. Maybe it's time to tell Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham that in the interests of Welsh football, it would be best if they stayed on the other side of Offa's Dyke!!

Bet we'd still take 5,000 away if we draw Sea of Tranquility FC in next season's Third Round!

I can handle that more than I can the prospect of being on the wrong end of a shoeing from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch FC.

Longest town name in the UK and if you ever hear a Welsh lass pronounce that, it sounds similar to the noise she'll make when she's having a nosh!

James Earl Ray, the assassin of Martin Luther King, was apprehended at Heathrow Airport.

The first interracial kiss on TV was in 1968 when Captain Kirk snogged Uhura.

In the UK, pigeon crap technically still belongs to the crown. This is because it was used to make gunpowder back in the day.

For 31 years I was of no fixed abode due to perpetually moving, living, or working around London, England and then all points of the compass. Thus, it seemed something 'global' would suit.

Currently selling the parental home that I happily grew up in and while Greenford may not be a go-to destination, its where I unashamedly say I'm from. Why? My parents settled there from Ireland, both died in that home, and growing up as a kid with a disability my life could have been made hell, but it wasn't, for I was treated as an equal in the place I grew up in.

I maybe Planet, I may, finally have settled in France, but there's always been a bit of UB6 with me along the way.

Money!

As I understand it, neither TFL or the LBs of H&F or R want to take responsibility for it. Why they can't simply agree to pay a third each is beyond me.

Was in the Blue Anchor a few times when I was last back and looking at how HB has become this forlorn sight is a disgrace.

Blimey, I've lived in both East Sheen and Pimlico. Neither hotbeds of Rfosi, but I was in a pub (The Constitution) in Pimlico one night watching football and a chap says something about QPR. 20 years later we're still in touch!

Stockport 3 - 3 QPR

You'd have to go that bit further for the 5-5 at home to Newcastle in 1984.

I've been fortunate to have been at that game, plus the Port Vale 4-4 and the Stockport revival. If the footage in the OP is the one I've seen before, you can see my us Manc R's around our flag. Stockport was a bit of a 'derby' fixture and we always met at the Working Men's Club behind the away end before and after. Which was a cracking venue, cheap as chips and we'd be home in time for 'North West Tonight'.

Q: What's worse than pessimism from QPR fans?

A: When QPR fans are optimistic before an FA Cup game.

I've detected a worrying degree of pre-game confidence and as anyone who has attended QPR cup games (should) know: that's dangerous. Especially if we're on a bit of form and the oppo (irrespective of what division they're in) are struggling.

I'm really worried we might actually win and if we do, WTF do we do then?

If climate change still has to be raised for some, then I fsuspect they just not going to get it.

The issue has long gone past the point of no return. These COPs are a waste of time, and are COP-OUTS!! Frankly, we'd be better off focusing on how to best manage what's coming.
