| News Comment | Southampton Once Again In Talks With Manchester City Over Transfer at 14:25:30
Delap would be an expensive risk. He's unproven at Premier lge level & not exactly been prolific in Championship. All of the forwards (CA + AA + RS) have much record of scoring in Championship so why would we spend 20m on Delap. He could be good but most likely be nothing special. I seriously think we need an upgrade on what we've already got & Delap is not that. If we don't manage to get anyone in then give Dom Ballatd an opportunity, his goalscoring record is every bit as good as Delaps. It looks like Delap will choose to sign for The Tractor Boys, that will save us wasting 15m + add ons. |
| News Comment | Alcaraz Set To Complete Loan Move To Italian Giant at 10:59:31
As promising & talented as Charly is his impact this season has been limited. He rarely starts & is used as an impact sub. It's a great opportunity for him to go to Juve & impose himself. It's also a great deal for us but only if they sign him for the reported €50M, if they don't sign him & he comes back to us at end of season then we've achieved nothing other than losing a quality player for the critical period of our promotion push. |
| News Comment | Alcaraz Set To Complete Loan Move To Italian Giant at 09:40:00
Bye Bye Charlie its been good while it lasted. But your talent obviously doesn't appeal to RM's style of play. Also that Argentinian aggression sometimes gets you into trouble & RM see's you as a risk he can't take. Thanks for your effort & hope it works out well for you at Juve. |
| News Comment | Saints Linked With Crystal Palace Winger at 09:07:18
Why is it that all the players we go after have a history of long term injuries.priority when looking for players should be their fitness record. No good having a great player that's restricted to the treatment room. (ie. Ross Stewart). |
| News Comment | Livramento Transfer Takes A Surprising Loan Back Turn at 11:15:52
I personally think there is too much hype about Livramento. He might be young & a good prospect for someone in the future, but he's a very long way from being the finished article. His form tailed off dramatically for us in his first season when the opposition sussed him out. Also he has to prove that his serious injury is behind him & not likely to flare up again. I think if we could get 30M for him now we should take it. Due to our outstanding debts, we're going to need every penny we can get from selling players & get a few cheap ones in a bit quick. |
| News Comment | Another Weird Quote Or Two From Nathan Jones at 19:00:46
NJ said that Caleta Car was too "deconditioned " to feature in Brentford match. What a load of rubbish, he'd only missed one match thru suspension & had trained as normal, he was fit enough to play so why didn't he. Plus he was replaced by Jan Bednarek who has only played one full game this season prior to this match, if anyone was "deconditioned: it was Bednarek. NJ talks so much garbage & needs to pick his words more carefully. He should concentrate on getting results rather than making stupid statements. |
| News Comment | £12 Million Bid Lodged For Danny Ings at 15:34:41
I think Danny Ings is mercenary & will go to any club prepared to pay him silly money. He'll be more than happy to sit on the bench at West Ham & count his money. I cannot forget when we signed him he said it was a dream come true coming to play for the team he supported as a kid, then left at short notice as soon as Villa offered him big money. Also he is no longer prolific, like many players they lose their appetite for a fight when they are on big salaries & have an inflated ego. You probably gather that I didn't want Ingsy back. |
| News Comment | Southampton Transfer Links Mainly In Strong Areas at 10:33:05
Tella ain't a ctr forward & he ain't coming back. If we sign a striker he needs to be a big & powerful player that not only scores regularly but is capable of holding the ball up & bringing others into play. |
| News Comment | Southampton Announce Signing Of Mislav Oršić at 20:43:05
Hopefully will add that bit of quality we need going forward, a very positive signing. But it should have happened back in August. It might be too late to save us this season. Also we need an experienced ctr back + creative midfielder + another striker. Am I asking too much. |
| News Comment | Should Southampton Recall Nathan Tella In January at 18:10:35
NT is not what we need at the moment. We need a conventional target man that can score a minimum of 15 goals a season & can hold the ball up. Another Pelle or Rickie Lambert is ideally what we need but how & where do we get one with limited funds available also who would want to join a club that is likely to get relegated this season. But if we don't get that type of player at least getting NT back would give us more options up front. |
| News Comment | Should Southampton Risk Deja Vu By Signing Another Ex Player at 11:39:07
No, no. def no. Not even on loan. He'd be on extortionate wages & is constantly injured so you're unlikely to get many games out of him. We need players that have experienced a dog fight before & he hasn't. Plus he's not a prolific goalscorer which is our priority. He'd be another expensive luxury like Walcott. Alright we're not in a position to sign a top goalscorer but I am sure we could get someone that is better than what we already have . |
| News Comment | Does Saints Lack Of Yellow Cards Highlight Issues at 19:42:14
It's quite common now for the the losing team to have had the higher percentage of possession. That's the way that a lot of teams play now, it's to let the opposition have as much possession as they want in areas that they cannot hurt you, then suck them in & hit them on the break. That's the modern game & it works. |
| News Comment | Does Saints Lack Of Yellow Cards Highlight Issues at 13:15:13
Another reason for getting a yellow card is for taking your shirt off when celebrating scoring. With our lack of goal potential it's unlikely we'll get too many Yellows for that offence. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Everton The Verdict at 10:37:50
Totally agree with the comments regarding Zonal marking, it's a nonsense. By playing zonal marking you're giving the opposition space & "space does not score goals, players do". For God's sake abandon zonal marking, take responsibility & start marking players (preferably mark a player of similar height to yourself & not a miss match of 6'4" against 5'9".) Also the point previously made about our talented young players coming good next season & improving results next season won't happen because these talented young players if any good will be snapped up by bigger clubs. We will then have to go thru the process again & buy young players before selling them to a bigger club. This policy possibly keeps the club bouyant financially but we cannot compete or survive on Premier lge with this policy of constant turnover of players. Ralph is having to play these youngsters to raise their profile & hike up their market value. I'm not defending RH because I think he's lost the plot & def should be replaced but perhaps some of the decisions regarding team selection are determined by the clubs policy to I raise young player value. |
| News Comment | Jan Bednarek Falling Out Of Love With Saints And Flirting With Villa. at 16:04:15
Agreed, if JB goes we need a replacement. Have I missed something because we were hot on the trail of Levi Colwell at Chelsea but that's gone cold. He's probably going to be surplus to Chelsea's requirements if they get a new centre back. Levi Colwell would be a good investment & a step up on JB. Get him & get Ramos & it will have been a good transfer window. But make sure we keep Che. It would give us a much bigger squad (needed now because of the 5 subs) and plenty of players with a good profitable sell on value. This system of the transfer window going on a month into the new season is crazy. I know why we have this period of transfer window, but its a nonsense. All deals should done before the season starts so that managers know what they've got to work with. Who'd be a Football Manager, hmm. |
| News Comment | Southampton Offered Arsenal Star at 22:04:55
The reason Liam Delap interest has dried up is because he's joined his Dad at Stoke. I think it's a blessing that he's no longer available, we need a proven Premier goalscorer not a kid with potential. |
