He's ben dreadful the last few years but was a standout player for England in Euro 2020 which is why Southgate kept going back to him and was desperate for a player who could do that job. Quite sad to see a player fall away from such heights so quickly.

Guardiola has spoke publicly about how he was ‘obsessed’ with Phillips in that Bielsa system and how he was horrified once they signed him and he quickly realised the guy couldn’t play in any other system.
