In praise of Tall Paul 11:34 - Dec 27 with 945 viewsDorsetIan

The guy deserves massive credit for his performance yesterday.

Sure, he didn't score, but for his first attempt he was rugby tackled by the WH defender just as he was heading the ball - a clear pen for me - one header only just missed the far post and a third required a great save from Fabianski.

And he was in the box in the right place to get on the end of those balls, just as he was in the right place in the box in space right at the end when Dibbling should have passed to him.

Add to that that he was getting on the end of most of the goal kicks, not static, waiting to see where the ball was going and then running to meet it, often collecting the ball on his chest before laying it off.

And he was holding up the ball with his feet too.

And he put a massive shift in.

And he was encouraging the crowd.

Yes, some of his passes aren't as accurate as they could be, and yes he can be a bit clumsy. But show me someone who's 6ft 7 who isn't.

Yes , I thought he played a good game. More importantly, so did the head coach.

Contrast him with static, ball watching Adam Armstrong who couldn’t find space in a desert.

I would be intrigued as to how he would do if we were to start him in an away game, where we would invariably have less of the ball and there were not be so many balls lofted up to him.

True, Pat but as he is a big lad, it helps to psyche out the opposition.

Well summed up. He puts in a shift. He seemingly has a great attitude. He runs, he gets into good positions, he's strong and the opposition are wary of him. We had some chances to get us off our seat. He has some skill too,and he seemed to be everywhere. I enjoyed his performance. He is a bit clumsy, but he's the best we have. He should definitely play.

As for Sulemana...............

Utter madness from previous managers not to play him.

It's not as if we have a wealth of attacking talent to pick from is it?

Honestly...even a dim witted bufoon like me can see the problems he causes the opposition defence compared to Armstrong who for all his endeavours offers zero threat and an absolute stroll in the park for the oppo's defenders .

We just need to see if we can getting a tune out of an attacking three consisting of Tall Paul, Archer and Dibling.

After his treatment under Martin where it was clear the manager didn’t want him his confidence must be at a low
Perhaps Juric having belief in him will spur him on to achieve the goal scoring record he’s had at every other club he’s played for

Clumsy and uncoordinated He may be in part, but Tall Paul has all the makings of a genuine cult hero!

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

At last Tall Paul gets a start. by GRIM 26 Dec 13:50
Ivan Juric has done what RM was afraid to do, he's given Tall Paul a start today.
At least it shows the new coach has some bottle & gives TALL Paul a chance to convince us that he can do a job.

another one who lacks fitness due to rm training methods and lack of match time ,might be a different player with another yard of sharpness.

Yes, not match ready. Give him a couple of weeks under a proper training regime and cross fingers.
