SO basically opted for a right back rather than Hayden, feels like a mistake that one, hopefully we can get him back in January
Perhaps losing Reggie Cannon partly influenced their decision. You would also assume that they anticipated that Varane and Madsen would be performing better.
With the benefit of hindsight it was a poor decision putting too much faith in the new signings and not allowing for injuries.
I see we lost 0-1 to Wycombe behind closed doors, another poor result, I don't care if it was a friendly. No sign of Colback and JCS so the Hayden decision increasingly hurts us.

Both Colback's and JCS's injuries seem to be taking forever to heal - it's aggravating and concerning, especially considering it was mentioned somewhere (though, as usual on this messageboard, I'm not sure on what authority) that he had been pencilled in to return for the Portsmouth game.
The Cannon situation seemed to really explode in our faces, and the lack of explanation from the club is another load of old balls as far as I'm concerned.
A positive result against Pompey is of the essence, but I'm also expecting a massively improved ninety-minute performance that supplies some kind of evidence of meaningful training ground work during the int. break.

I try to stay out of this these days, but not all Trump supporters are on another planet. I can't stand the big orange tvvat but it's a lot more complex.
There are all sorts of clips of people saying things like "Yes, he's a narcissistic but he loves America and the economy was a lot better under him". That's what people are looking for. Doesn't have to be true.
You have to bear in mind America doesn't have the same welfare state, good or bad, that the UK does. The health insurance is different, the retirement plans are different, so much more is connected to the stock market and the prosperity of corporations.
Many of the other UK-type things exist in terms of safety net provisions but City and State money is dwarfed by the free market. Most middle-right ground Trump supporters are basically ignoring all of his mental comments and focusing on the above. They do exist.

Especially this time around. He's too old and increasingly erratic and rambling. Also filled with bitterness about his claimed election rigging.
When he first ran he was 8 years younger and if you watch the debates with Clinton from back then its like a different person. He had a term in office and didn't do the things he said he would. Now he's a rambling, bitter old man and it says a lot about his party that they are still prepared to run with him despite this. So much focus on Biden's age by the media and this guy says ridiculous stuff almost every day and its fine.
The old story of political parties trying to benefit from things like global inflation (that amazingly has affected nations whether they have left or right leaning governments) to win power. Too many people just don't bother to fact check or look beyond carefully tailored headlines designed to provoke a certain reaction. The US economy is improving, interest rates and inflation are falling, the stock market is doing well. Yet apparently the current government are bad for the economy?
Anyway we've probably had enough of this subject.

Ashby to cover Santos and Dunne, almost on a sliding scale par as with Julio Cesar brought in after couple of bad games from Rob Green.
And Cannon was jettisoned.
The 30 capped USA international never happened here and the reasons been hushed up, I feel.
But for me, i think we needed to replace quickly the loss of Dykes.
Midfield we have Field, Colback, Varane, Dixon Bonner, Madsen.
Although Hayden may have improved things pre season, we all may have believed these options for midfield two is fine, particularly if Hayden with injury issues costs £50k / week.
Celar and Frey up top - most would have wanted more here !!!

Putting my head above the parapet to be told I’m wrong (again), as I said the other day when discussing the summer squad building, they signed Santos with the hope that Dunne would go back at CB and able to fill in at RB. Santos is clearly ‘one for the future’ so they had to go into the market again for another RB, which we got in Ashby for half a packet of polo’s thanks to Jamie Reuben.
Of course as it turns out he doesn’t really rate Ashby either but on paper it wasn’t a bad gamble - a RB who can go both ways was simply more important to MC than another CM. With hindsight maybe you’d take Hayden instead but obviously they didn’t foresee having Colback & Varane both unavailable.
With Ashby as well, he has no future at Newcastle so he’s someone we could make permanent pretty cheaply if he smashes it out of the park.
Don't disagree mate, my point was simply right at this moment I can imagine the reaction in the media team's office when Hoopsa dropped a "tomorrow on the channel... ISAAC HAYDEN"

I think the key thing here is that the Reggie Cannon issue with Boavista dropped right at the end of the window and with no left back back up for Paal we panicked a little especially as Santos looked well out of his depth at the start of the season.

Cook, has been terrific, like Neilsen and various others before him. But, this was a signing from the previous administration,
I think you only need one or two figures like him in the dressing room,
I know Warnock did it, but building a whole team with the spine of experience, but him remit was promotion at all cost. CN is trying to build a club that can wipe its own arse financially. I don't think you can do that by spending £50k a week on a midfielder that no-one else took from NUFC in the summer, because his contract is so good
QPR wouldn't be spending £50k a week on Hayden as he'd be on loan and Newcastle would be paying the lions share of his wages. Either that or Newcastle settle Isaac's contract and he joins on Championship wages.
