Had a few pints this evening in the Palm Tree, Mile End stroke Bow. Subtle red lighting like a David Lynch/ Wim Wenders film. Three blokes getting on a bit (one being the pub landlord one being me) brought together in conversation due to the death of a Dutch football legend reminiscing about the great Dutch teams of the 70s. All the names mentioned above came up (I'll add Arie Haan) Cruyff turns were attempted. Any way landlord says there's a local who's an Rs fan goes home and away described currently as not happy.

He had vision and a great engine. Saw him play an exhibition game for NY Cosmos in Melbourne. Was one of the best players in the 78 World Cup final too. Will always be loved by Aussies for his assistant coach role with Guus Hiddink and the Socceroos in the 2006 World Cup. RIP legend 😎 |  |
