The following may be of interest to MH

It will also apply the new "enhanced" owners' and directors' test which will replace the current tests carried out by the Premier League, Football League and Football Association.

The new test will be implemented before acquisition but also on an ongoing basis.

It will include a new 'integrity test' for owners and executives and stronger investigations before a purchase, including sources of funding.

Been following the progress of this via the Fair Game newsletters

A chance for government (in a non-political sphere, or certainly shouldn't be) to put our game back on track, a real win-win situation if its done properly

And shake the FA/EFL out of their lethargy by having them shape up or bugger off

Govt. Tell Premier League to cough up more for lower leagues

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/government-tells-premier-league-give-more-mon

If this happened, should we spend it on players or building the infrastucture?
Training pitches? New ground? New tannoy system, better lights?
Maybe clubs should bid for the money for anything except players...?

Quite an easy one for the Government, who are a bit short on friends and credibility, to stop criminals and dodgy owners ruining football and the communities that support them.

The legislation will sail through unopposed you would think when it gets its reading in Parliament and that will make the FA, Premier League and EFL sit up and take note.

This link doesn't even dip into the Swindon Town issues or those we have had as it is from 2017 - and that shows you how corrupt and broken governance through football has been.

It may take some time to be introduced (due to other perhaps more pressing matters) but as a genuinely apolitical piece of legislation it should certainly pass unopposed
