Innit.

Drakeford and Sturgeon had the power to lockdown sooner if they wanted. They just waited to see what Johnson would do first. As they have done at every point throughout the Pandemic.

Untrue because the UK govt controls the furlough funding.

They allowed it in line with Englands policy.
Refused requests from Drakers and Comrade Nicola to furlough Wales and Scotland only.
Money came before public health.

Lets have the public inquiry.

MPs report from October says ā€¦

The UK's failure to do more to stop Covid spreading early in the pandemic was one of the country's worst public health failures, a report by MPs says.
The government approach - backed by its scientists - was to try to manage the situation and in effect achieve herd immunity by infection, it said.
This led to a delay in introducing the first lockdown, costing thousands of lives, the MPs found.

You need to be better informed.

You have to accept that many mistakes were made in the early stages by both England and Wales. The world was in a state of panic without precedent. It was a case of dammed if you do dammed if don't. PPE was virtually non existent worldwide and mistakes were made. Field hospitals were set up and not used, basically there were not enough NHS staff to man them. Mortuarys were put in place throughout the various regions of the UK and never used. They really were unprecedented times. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but we can only learn from the mistakes, by Wales and England, then move on. Neither leaders come out of this well. But at least England is trying to move forward. The longer Drakeford keeps Wales wrapped up in cotton wool the longer it will take us to recover. Businesses are suffering people are losing employment living standards are dropping and that is without the health of the welsh population declining. If we don't get out and circulate our immune system will be non existent.

They could have still ordered lockdown earlier, they had the power but of course they would have had to raise the money themselves.

Do you think a competent government might have thought about the staffing of the field hospitals before they were built ?

Yes this should have thought of this, both England and Wales. They were counting on recently retired staff and moving staff across from different areas to cover, I know this for a fact, but the skills set did not match. As I said blind panic and both England and Wales were responsible for their own regions.

"Government trying to distract people from their handling of the Pandemic" says man trying to distract people from his handling of the Pandemic.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I think Boris has abandoned the science in an attempt to curry favour with his MPā€™s. I think releasing the restrictions is a good move, but it needed a more measured approach. Wonder if this is why JVT bailed out.

They of course also Wanted Westminster to fund it as well.

All the money to fund the furlough scheme for the whole of the UK was borrowed by the Westminster government. They borrowed the money because the devolved governments are not allowed to.

When the Welsh and Scottish governments decided that their Nations should go into lockdown, as they were perfectly entitled to, Westminster said no to furlough. When the Westminster Government decided that England should go into lockdown, as they were entitled to, furlough was reintroduced. Immediately.

So what does that say ? Wales and Scotland were being more careful than England in their approach. But Westminster said no to funding, effectively saying you are doing the wrong thing even though healthcare has been devolved.

What if Westminster had decided to be more careful than Wales and Scotland ? Do any of you think there would have been any delay in funding furlough in that scenario ?

That last one was a rhetorical question. The answer is no.

Whatever you may think about how the Welsh and Scottish governments handle healthcare, the fact is that health has been devolved and they alone should be responsible for their own Nations care. By denying furlough Westminster deliberately undermined the two governments.

I appreciate its only an indication but I've never anyone met anyone who has been positive about Drakeford prior to or certainly during the pandemic.
Under his leadership at the start of the pandemic more than 1,000 hospital patients were discharged to Welsh care homes without a coronavirus test after the senedd issued guidance saying hospitals could discharge Covid-19 patients to care homes and that patients without common symptoms wouldn't need to be tested before they were moved. Drakeford and his motley crew seemed very keen to take credit when things go well, and blame Westminster when disaster strikes, as we saw with his comments recently regarding an enquiry ā€œa proper Welsh dimensionā€ to the UK-wide report. But of course, when the verdict comes in, the shouting will be far louder in Westminster. The Welsh government will be able to once again hide behind Englandā€™s failures ".

Hahaha, I needed a good laugh this morning.

There's an obvious reason for it though, and that's that a lot of people say what they think they ought to be saying and not what they actually think. Probably because for a good chunk of the last 2 years people who have dared to question restrictions have been smeared as wanting to kill tens of thousands of people.

Was still happening a few of weeks ago, Wales Online did a vox pop in Cardiff about the new hospitality restrictions and everyone (who made the cut) agreed with them, with the usual 'better to be cautious' stuff. In reality of course, most people thought they were a load of nonsense.

Wales and Scotland have had equal access the furlough money allocated by the UK government.
The UK government have followed the scientific evidence as to when lockdown started and ended and the UK chancellor provided very generous furlough funding to save 11 million people being made redundant or layed off on no pay.

There's no doubt that Mark Drakeford is more cautious in his measures, not an issue if it keeps people safe, a slight inconvenience walking into a pub with a mask on, but actually, I love table service

I will continue to wear a mask in public places and if I was polled, I would say MD is doing a far better job than the lying buffoon.
