Now I’m all for us bringing the sh*thousery but surely this will result in a ban for Charlie

we've only played 3 games.

the only petulance last night was Moses throwing himself into two daft challenges and getting himself sent off. he did the same at Orient

It was 3 daft challenges actually.

Before he got sent off, he hauled one of their players to the floor - no attempt to play the ball - that could have been the 2nd yellow there.

Pretty difficult to pretend you didn't see it when you awarded a free kick for it.
That was Keithy Baby's big out at Forest last year, he may have been staring straight at it from a few yards awya, but he didn't give a free kick.

Yep fair point.

So defo no ban then.

Previous convictions/character/level of form so far unsurprisingly not taken into account

IF (Red light, loud klaxon) what Neil Warnock said was true, that
the ref told him that he saw it as a clash of heads then retrospective action can't be taken.

In these sort of situations, i always look at player reaction and no Boro player or indeed Grant Hall went mad, so to me he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Surely judging the situation by player reaction is the completely wrong thing to do, hence why the game is riddled now with players who play the referee.

Should the Referee not have consulted with his Linesman, who would have been in line and had a clear view rather than guessing based on Hall's reaction?

Listen, I'm happy we've got away with one, only concern is that as Austin's effectiveness lessens with age, he reacts and resorts to this more often, rather than changing his game to suit, as say Sheringham did.

Don't forget they are miked up, so probably did have a word with AR and possibly 4th as well.

“ Should the Referee not have consulted with his Linesman”

Surely if the linesman had seen a headbutt he would have immediately informed the referee without waiting to be consulted

We'll have to coach it out of him, as we did with Dickie last season.

It's irrelevant how many games we've played (4 by the way) or what he's done in the past. Charlie is clearly overweight and unfit, and has started the season poorly. Now compare him to the likes of Wallace who is 34 yet looks as fit as a butchers dog and has started the season well.

Don't get me wrong; I like Charlie and I'm pleased he signed. However, this is the second time this year that he has been guilty of wholly unnecessary foul play. He was signed to score goals and set an example to the youngsters but at this moment in time he's failing on both counts.

Now I understand that it's early doors and that he's a hero to some. However, I venture that Charlie will have woken up today with some regret. I'm also confident that he's man enough to own it and he will come good. I just hope that we don't lose him for 3 games in the meantime.

Not sure how you can say he is 'clearly unfit and overweight' without any back up whatsoever.

Without being rude, how many more times, he will NOT be banned now as ref saw the incident.

Why are so many QPR supporters so desperate to get Charlie banned ? We have a qualified referee explaining it but still they persist.

Strong and stable my arse.

I'm a bit puzzled as well.

Not just me, but others on this thread have explained that he can't now be banned.

Odd I agree.

100% Agree.

After the impact he made last season, you could almost forgive him anything, but what he did, did not cost us the game.
He will get sharper and will score goals.

it is pretty relevant how many games we've played. If we were 10 games in and Austin has only started once you would have a point but he's featured in 2 of the 4 games so far.

i also wouldn't mind being as overweight as Austin. Struggling to see how you can say he's started the season poorly. He's played one game where he was Ok and came on last 25 mins last night and was again OK. He got a knock in the Millwall game which is why he missed 2 games rather than a lack of fitness, same as Wallace who got a knock last night and is likely to miss a few games.

Austin’s abilities as a Championship level footballer appear to be declining, and rapidly, hence he is becoming more and more petulant. This was a red card all day long and Charlie is trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes saying it was an accident.

Ignorance will be bliss here but Warburton, the coaching team and even Les, could and should be having a word with Austin. Charlie likes to be the main man but this is a team game and his role has changed since his first time at the club and even his return to us last season.

Personally got my fingers crossed that Kelman or Armstrong have a breakthrough season or we loan a Hullesque Frazier Campbell in, as I’m not sure Dykes and Austin are a top six strike force.

Hang on, Austin has played 90 minutes of football, the first 68 of which he picked up an injury in.
And somehow, you making a sweeping decision about his future.
The same with Adomah, why are people so keen to write these players off?
In reality, the older a player gets, the more they need time to get up to full fitness in a season.
I fail to see how 90 minutes in four games at the start of a season can be given as a satisfactory trial period for Austin's future.

Love all the rose tinted, "Charlie is not that type of player" in here!

He very much is. Did he not stamp on someone last season?
We need players with that edge. He's just lost the run of himself a bit here. Probably deserving of a ban, as you can't do that.

If someone did that to our Rob Dickie and we'd lost 3-2 the pitchforks would be out

I don't have a problem with the pitch folks coming out for an opposition player. I find it quite bizarre that some people have the same reaction to our own player

Agreed. This is a strange, and somewhat depressing, thread. Should we start one for every penalty and yellow card given in a match?

I get what you are saying, but this wasn't just a yellow card for dissent or a slightly late challenge, it was an assault. If the ref does confirm that he saw it and Pinner and others are right that he doesn't get banned, I'm happy, but it was a ridiculously stupid thing to do and could easily have cost us the game last night.

It is worthy of this thread for that reason.

(Just my opinion there; not right or wrong, just my thoughts...).

Can we go out yet?

When the team is doing so well it starts to affect those who feel the need to have a scapegoat and Charlie is just being tested out for fit with this nonsense. As soon as it looks like Kane may be getting a game it will all be heaped on him. It's the QPR fans way.

The grass is always greener.

Something else to consider, Austin was the only player to play under Warnock I think (QPR second stint)

er Benny, without casting dispersions, the signing of Charlie Austin, a mere seven months ago, turned this club around. We were nosediving to League 1, hopeless in front of goal, then BANG...Obviously his addition was not the only relevant factor in the 180 degree shift of our fortunes and, no doubt the long term success will be decided by Dickie(love 'im) and Willock among others, but he was the spark that ignited the engine.
Actually, reading your post again, I've sorta knee jerked, but you get what I mean.
