More than a quarter of those scheduled to have the Covid vaccine across Swansea Bay on Monday failed to turn up.
In one day alone, out of 1,750 appointments, 492 did not attend their appointment at the mass vaccination centres.
I think that's absolutely scandalous, at least pick the phone up and cancel.

Well there was the positive test, the symptoms they were treated for and the opinion of the medical staff.
Are all of the medical staff in the world in on this conspiracy? Because the ones I know seem quite no to me.

The PCR test is accurate. Maybe not infallible but is the best we've got.
It looks for the unique genetic code of the virus if it is present that person has the virus.

Every life lost is a tragedy.
There’s been a lot of focus on suicide rates and mental health and there should be, but there may also be some miscomprehension about the suicide rates in 2020. Quarter 1 was pre covid, Quarter 2 was the first real Covid period and suicide rates were actually lower than previous years, Quarter 3 was broadly consistent with previous years and Quarter 4 is still to be published. All the rates are subject to change on account of inquests etc. In Q3, the total number of suicide deaths recorded during the entire Quarter was almost 1400, that’s less than the number who died on 1 day when Covid was at its peak.
The suicide rates don’t tell the whole story. A lot of the people who suffered MH issues during Covid (and continue to do so now) didn’t become so unwell as the felt the need to end their life, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t/aren’t very unwell and it’s really important that the MH services ( which generally are extremely under resourced ) are properly staffed and supported going forward. | | | |

I never believe the figures given out for missed appointments by the Welsh NHS and I'd caution others to do likewise.
I base this on my own experiences on being on waiting lists for treatment and waiting and waiting and waiting until finally going to my doctors (and dentist) to enquire as to where I was on the list only to for my GPs enquires to result in a letter back from our wonderful NHS informing both my GP and myself that I had failed to turn up for my appointment and had been struck off the list.
I'd have been waiting for ever if I hadn't enquired as well as being labelled an non attender.
As you can imagine I was furious and demanded and subsequently received a meeting with three top managers at Llandougn hospital who revealed that due to the incompetence of the Welsh NHS they had sent my appointment letter to an address that I had lived at 20 years previously not my current address that my GP had naturally provided them with.
In relaying this tale to family, friends and associates whenever the subject of appointments and waiting lists popped up over the course of recent years I used to advise those on waiting lists for some time to check whether they were still on said lists and was taken aback by the number who came back to me to say that they too had been struck off lists that they were patiently waiting to get to the head of having heard nothing off the NHS.
But never mind lets all get out and clap the good old incompetent Welsh NHS managers running the show.
And if it really was needed to confirm the incompetence of the Labour Party run Welsh NHS is exactly the same years later just last year after waiting for months and months following being referred to the dental hospital at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff my wife was surprised somewhat that the receptionist at the school in Penarth that she was on supply attachment to approached her and handed over my appointment letter to be seen at the Heath hospital
The incompetent fools in Welsh NHS had done it again, sent my appointment to a previous address despite my dentist obviously providing my current one upon referral.
And the reason that the school receptionist was handing over my appointment letter? Because of the incredible coincidence that she lived in the house that my appointment letter had been sent to and had recognised the name on the letter and that of my other half on secondment to her school and after checking that we were related handed over my appointment letter otherwise I'd still be waiting 15 months later.
I never did get the appointment by the way after 15 months of being in sheer debilitating agony and being concerned about the amount of pain killers I was having to take I went private to have the work done.
Just like I was forced to dig into meagre savings to go private to have a skin cancer scare biopsy diagnosis carried out after being abandoned by our wonderful Welsh NHS for 18 months with still no consultant appointment after an initial visit to my GP and being advised that it could be skin cancer after examination of pictures sent to the dermatology unit by my GP and despite the mark on my skin having increased 4 fold whilst waiting patiently to see a NHS consultant.
(It does go against the grain a touch that my last 3 experiences of the NHS have forced me to resort to paying for private treatment despite me paying for NHS treatment through my lifelong taxes).
What a farce of a way to run a national health service, I would of course have been struck off the list if I had not attended the appointment and been quoted in the figures along with all the other similar incidents by an outraged MP or NHS manager on the TV at some stage whining about missed appointments no doubt.
I again demanded a meeting with managers at the hospital only to be told at that meeting that it is their rubbish IT systems which often override and substitute old addresses even after the correct current address is inputted after receipt from a referring doctor or dentist.
I have this in transcript and on CD recording of the meeting as provided to me by the NHS after the meeting
So please stop quoting numbers and figures provided by outraged Welsh NHS mangers of the numbers of missed appointments as you simply can't believe that the intended recipients ever got the letters in the first place.
In fact just to back up my experiences if you recall you will remember Welsh Health Minster Vauge Guessing and the Welsh NHS having to admit that 13,000 letters had been sent to the wrong addresses ( previous addresses) in regards to shielding for vulnerable persons at the start of the current crisis.
That was 13,000 out of 80,000 by the way, an incredible level of hopeless incompetence and chimes exactly with my experiences.
