£11m for Joe - 17:39 - Oct 16 with 4242 views | BillyChong | Who was it that said Silverstein’s cash injection would allow us to play hardball when it came to selling Joe? Bollocks. Yanks, Winter, Sellouts - fack off.

£11m for Joe - pisstake on 21:14 - Oct 16 by Badlands | Good business. Rodon was never going to attract offers above £15 million. Anyone who claims otherwise is a bit deluded IMO. |
You're right - you should re-post that comparative analysis with Godfrey. Rodon had the opportunity of a lifetime, so he (and anybody else in that position) was off. We need the cash and deeper squad. And only one buyer.

£11m for Joe - pisstake on 19:38 - Oct 16 by Neath_Jack | Been a very good window. Nice to get Borini over the line as well mind. I'm on record on this forum as saying if we got anywhere close to £10m for Joe, we would have done well. Let's see how many games he plays for Spurs this season, and how long he stays fit for, Huge potential, but potential is often not reached. |
Good points. Agree, re-signing Borini would be the icing on the cake....... bonkers idea mind, but Winter seems far from bonkers

Or in the case of quantum mechanics and parallel realities theory, written as many times as there are possible unique configuration of all the variables. In which case we definitely will and definitely won’t be promoted this season. The problem then merely becomes one of geography, to navigate to the former reality. £11m for Joe - on 11:29 - Oct 17 with 934 views | MartinSwan | If we can convince Borini, I hope he still takes a mean free kick. With Gibbs White and Matt taking free kicks for crosses, Borini will add a threat of a direct shot that we havent had since Brewster left.

Spot on, we have been mugged again.
£11m for Joe - on 12:58 - Oct 17 with 911 views | Badlands | We never paid that for a Championship even when we (thought) we could. Only Ayew and Llorente cost more. To say we have sold cheaply is a bit silly. Askyourselves what would have been the reaction to us offering £15 million for a CB with (possibly) dodgy legs who has played fewer than 50 Championship games? Even Clucas had played a full season in the PL.

£11m for Joe - pisstake on 09:17 - Oct 17 by BillyChong | The only thing I’ll give Huw credit for in his latter days was holding on for decent fees from sales and playing hardball. Needless to say he would have blown the monies on daft signings. Winter/the yanks have folded here big time. Expect some silly offers for others in January now our weakness is clear to all. |
The only time Jenkins held on for a decent fee was over Dan James, and I'm still fairly sure that the full story there has never been told. Otherwise he had a long track record of caving in early. Jason Scotland gone for just £2m. Ben Davies swapped in a £10m deal the same summer Luke Shaw went for £27m. Joe Allen gone for £15m. Wilfried Bony scored more PL goals than anyone else in 2014 and he was sold for just £25m when less prolific strikers were going for £35m. It's only after the takeover we started showing some steel. No doubt Sigurdsson would have gone a lot sooner and for a lot less than £45m if it was just down to Jenkins. Even last summer we got top coin for McBurnie and James. I'm becoming more and more convinced that we decided to just get a Rodon deal done to use the cash for plugging holes in the squad. [Post edited 17 Oct 2020 13:48]

£11m for Joe - on 20:37 - Oct 17 with 805 views | Dr_Winston | The Ben Davies deal has always stood out for me. Sure we got good value out of Sigurdsson, but at the time Spurs just didn't want him. To swap two international players (Davies and Vorm) for him at a time when a player no better than Ben and since then amply demonstrated to be not as good went for an extra £17m was almost criminal.

Vorm was on the slide then though, nothing compared to when he first came.

The Vorm part made little difference. We basically valued him at zero just to f*ck over Utrecht anyway.

Some good points there, unfortunately for a lot of our lot once Everton got mugged to pay £25M for Godfrey the line was drawn - big Joe has huge potential but has a lot still to prove, not least his injury record, & whilst I genuinely hope Liverpool & Citeh are circling in a couple of years over an £80M purchase it’s impossible to tell at this point. I remember watching Caulker in his early days with us on loan thinking he’d become an England regular.

The last time Spurs bought a young international centre back they paid £42m. Ollie Watkins who’s not an international and has never played in the premier league cost Villa £28m this summer. Webster who’s the closest comparison cost Brighton £20m this summer. Regulion was a fringe player at best at Madrid, he only played around 10 games for them in total.

But most of the above are “foreign” and there’s a premium on home grown players.
