EFL Appeal on 12:49 - Jan 7 by Meanwood | What does this mean, will they get the deducted points back? |
No. They were handed a suspended points deduction for failing to fulfil fixtures. The EFL appealed saying that the punishment was 'too weak' and asked for the points deduction to be implemented not suspended. They have refused to do that after a review, so they carry on from they are, without the EXTRA points deduction. It's a joke of a decision, but there we are. Next time we have to play a load of academy kids, there's a precedent for 'protecting' them from mens' football.

EFL Appeal on 13:18 - Jan 7 by sweetcorn | Does this give Macclesfield the grounds to appeal their deduction on account of this precedent set? |
I do hope so. They can't have different rules depending on how they cheated. But it sets a precedent and many more teams will decide they can postpone a fixture without permission if they have an injury crisis. We have suffered with 8 first teamers out and needing to use the youth team members. How many more points would we have had had we postponed a few games? But we play by the rules
EFL Appeal on 15:26 - Jan 7 with 3629 views | jonahwhereru | The precedent this set is a real worry. A month ago we were in a position where we had three players on the pitch who were under 20 and a bench full of kids. We were getting beat every week. Where does the line get drawn. The worst aspect is Bolton have strengthened no end since the cancellations. Not as a anti Bolton individual but as a football fan I can only say this stinks. Alas we will see more instances in future as the punishment will only be a suspended one. Disappointed for football.
EFL Appeal on 17:36 - Jan 7 with 3460 views | finberty | The EFL will need to re-examine its own structures if it finds itself bound by this decision and unable to impose the sanction they think fit. It's their competition after all, and as Bury found out, the EFL is able to enforce certain decisions, but not, as in this case, others. Ludicrous if they cannot enforce their own rules. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
