As has been pointed out, that’s not a text which incorporates the teaching of the man being celebrated yesterday.

The term refugee has a legal meaning derived from Article 1 of the 1951 UN Refugee Convention:
[Being a person]
1(2) As a result of events […] and owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.
(I cut the bit that was amended by the 1967 Protocol).
Article 33 is the origin of the 'first safe country' rule, which so many have been trying to blur.
As regards the religious aspect, I can't help wondering whether Christians might learn something from Buddhists, who have more first-hand experience of what 'come' and 'inherit' may involve.
