Bollocks. You’re not disabled and you don’t need a designated space. I often use them.

I view it as perfectly reasonable that people who are going to find it harder than I do to navigate themselves or those with them round a busy car park, when drivers are looking for spaces and are therefore distracted, can park nearest the door with a bit more space.

That includes those with mobility issues, or those trying to coral small kids.

I don’t. Except the part about people with mobility issues obviously. Kids are kids. Not an army of small and destructive elves.

Nonsense if they were at the back of the car park you wouldn’t use them.

Not true, my chum. The Aldi in Stevenage has them in the middle and the retail park also has them dotted about. I actually parked in one a good 3-4 minutes away from Debenhams yesterday 😂

Call me advanced, but I'm pretty confident I can walk around a car park more safely than the average toddler.

Hmmm.

I give mine up for the elderly or disabled but the young and fit of any gender can stand. Equality.

I couldn't just sit there and let a female stand, Doc. It would make me far too ill at ease. No, I couldn't do that.

I’m fairly sure you’d be able to control a couple of kids without needing a parking space next to the door as well.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I wouldn't expect any one to give up their seat for me. Male or female.

I've given up mine on any number of occasions to people less able to stand.

It's harder for them to control a couple of kids than it is for me to control no kids.

Indeed. My mother had six of us and we all managed to avoid the inherent dangers apparently lurking in supermarket car parks. Mind, we never had a car either.

I often use the disabled spaces though, nice and handy being close to the shop too.

Have standards slipped so precipitously then that it wouldn't be a natural impulse? I find that a bit far fetched, to be honest.

It's a sad indictment on society when chivalry is seen as a negative.

Like Dr W, I’d happily give up a seat for anyone who’s physically infirm, regardless of gender. But would I offer my seat to a woman purely because she’s a woman? No. It seems odd to me.
