Plenty of examples from Allied forces who served in WW2. It's us or them at the end of day. The jihadi was mortally wounded but probably had enough strength left to pull a pin out of concealed grenade or lunge with a knife. Dead men can't kill.

You need to read up on the My Lai Massacre in Viet Nam in 1968 to find out about truly deranged killing in a war zone.
We could do with less service men like him and more like Warrant Officer Hugh Clowers Thompson. Now he was a hero, and deserved every damned medal he was awarded, including the one he threw away.
A proper hero, not one of these plastic, 10-a-penny "heroes" that the Daily Fail and The Sc*m keep foisting on us in times of war.
This bloke was even prepared to fire on his US colleagues to prevent further slaughter.
