If you are talking about his work in the constituency then he was in charge for over 25 years and no bugger ever saw him apart from election time. Neath has turned from quite a busy market town into a town centre full of card, charity and cash for gold shops. There's been zero investment in the whole town, certain parts are absolutely no go areas because of the scumbags launching fireworks at people for fun because there's f uck all else to do.
The whole place has been neglected and he as you point out was one of the most powerful and influential people in the country and still did the square root of absolute f uck all for the area he was supposed to represent. What about such antics as failing to declare up to £100,000 of donations during his attempt to become deputy leader of the Labour Party (for which the Met provided a file to the CPS who did not prosecute, but Hain did pay back a 25 grand "loan").
