Come on mate, anyone with sense knew this was going to be bad news. The yanks have not been conned. They entered into a business arena they knew nothing about and had only ever experienced abject failure in. They thought they could stay up on the cheap, and probably still do.

Championship on 14:29 - Dec 4 by Johnw102 | Championship is not the end of the world, might have the fun of playing for promotion or Wembley for a play off. If we are not sorted a bit by Jan it is not the case of who comes in, but who we can hang on to, GS, JM, MB and Fab could all be on their way. |
MB? Mo Barrow? Take him now! He's utter gash. I can't understand the love for him, he's utter tripe. [Post edited 4 Dec 2016 15:03]

Nobody knew, but the way it was done rang very loud alarm bells Doesn't look as if the board carried out correct due diligence. Seems strange that the same happened with the first proposed sale until the Trust carried out it's own due diligence and the sale fell through.

Championship on 13:53 - Dec 4 by blueytheblue | Well... if you relegated you'd surely expect most of your squad to leave pretty quickly anyway wouldn't you? No offence, you're not exactly Newcastle who can keep their top players in the Championship. If the Yanks make their money having done that, they'd almost certainly want to sell their shares. A debt free club which I believe you are is more marketable, after all. Depending who then takes over, there's no reason you can't rebuild in the Championship. |
I think Fabianski, Fernandez, Ki, Barrow, Gylfi, Llorente and Baston will leave for sure. The team we are left with will actually be a good base as our centre backs, Amat, VDH, Mawson will do fine, as will Kingsley at LB. In midfield, Fulton and Cork will start, with Sheehan taking up Gylfi's role. Upfront, McBurnie will be involved. That said, I can't see us getting promotion if we go down.

Promoting straight back up isn't always the answer though if the rebuilt squad isn't ready at that point. The Championship is so difficult to get out of, spending a few seasons there rebuilding isn't the worst thing long term.

No disrespect but Sheeham taking up the Gylfi role ? I haven't seen much of the lad but when Gylfi leaves I would expect a top level championship player to replace him Will be a sad day when the ice man goes

Championship on 13:45 - Dec 4 by 34dfgdf54 | Yanks will strip the club of everything to get their cash back. I'm genuinely concerned of a Pompy style collapse. We have been shafted beyond belief. As I said earlier, shame on us as supporters for not doing something earlier, it has been clear as day for a few seasons but the rose tinted specs were on big time. |
Portsmouth was built on a foundation of massive debt and were paying wages way beyond their means for years. We're in no real danger of that level of collapse (unless we bring in an Arry or Big Sam to spend spend spend).

You think our club will want to compete in the "top level championship" player market, where the Ross McCormacks of the world go for north of £10m? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

McCormack is very much an anomoly in that regard though. Goal scorers have a premium regardless of league and, as always, it's a case of what a buying club value him at and what a selling club are willing to accept as a bid. Given a full season at this level, he's a 20 goal a season striker. Not too many of them around.

Probably the most overrated striker in the league structure. Give him the service in the box, he'll score sure. Little to no service, may as well play with ten men.

I agree that we are far from down looking at the table but on form and the way we leak goals, the signs are bad and I can't see it changing. On a positive note, looking at the championship, our side could promising with a lot of young players on the upgrade. Nordfeldt RB, Van der Hoorn, Mawson, Kingsley RM, Fulton, CM, LM Sheehan McBurnie Before anyone comments on the from two, we struggled to sign quality players this season so I don't see that we are going to sign quality if we are relegated. When was the last time that we were relegated? It must be about 15 years ago or something like that? Since then we've usually finished higher and higher each season, so the newer or younger fans won't have experienced it.

Championship on 13:42 - Dec 4 by blueytheblue | Championship is pretty competitive, any team can beat another on any given day. Usually get one team promoted from League One that is out of their depth, Rotherham this season. Not convinced you'd plummet further if you did relegate this season ( assuming Bradley goes after that is ). |
We've got a team of championship players playing in the Premier League. When we're in the Championship we'll have a team of Division 1 players playing in the Championship. Etc......... We are well f*cked

Yes I would say about 15 years ago Let's see how many of these 'new younger fans' stay around .... I'd like to think that they have the bug and will stay around. Those who don't aren't IMO fans anyway

So you want us to go down because you don't like the bubble trips? Well tell you what butty it's the safest way due ours and yours idiots unfortunately. Derbies are good atmospheres if nothing else. To be honest I thought you lot would survive relegation but after last week (although you won) and this week i'm not convinced, shipping 9 goals in two games has to be a worry.
